Marciano of the Moore fight vs Foreman of the briggs fight

6 years is a long time, especially when talking the difference between a 42 year old and 49 year old. Foreman did good to knock out stupid and fragile Michael Moorer, but he sharply declined after the Evander fight. He went from beating genuine contenders to getting the tar beat out of him by what were supposed to be unrated gimmes in Alex Stewart and Axel Schulz. Morrison was supposed to be a gimme too, but he surprised everyone by literally turning his back and running as fast as his bulk could carry him.

 

Still waiting on these clowns to explain how a stubby armed short 180 pounder beats a SHW with a granite chin and devastating power.

Foreman was slow? Gee, i didnt know. Did you know that didnt prevent him from tagging holyfield, moore, stewart, and several other boxers with power punches? So now rocky is faster and more evasive than those guys too???

Is Marciano going to bounce on his toes and use lateral movement, a crisp jab and counters? Because thats how you beat foreman.

You dont do it by charging at him and slugging it out--especially if youre several inches shorter and are giving up more than 50 lbs in weight. I cant believe i have to explain this.

 

It would have been joe frazier beat down part two. stlyes makes fights maricino would have been eating upercut sandwiches all nite.remember capt cheeseburger still had his punching power.

If Tommy Morrison can turn into Sweat Pea against a younger version of this guy, Marciano sure as hell can against an older version.

And Maricano was good at countering, because his feints were so well timed. And have you seen Marciano's jab? It was quite good, and he could probably use it in this fight.

 

This is real simple.

SHOW ME an example of marciano:

-fighting backing up
-using lateral movement
-countering and pivoting off the back foot while throwing combinations

You cant because it never happened. Marciano and Morrison are two different boxers. It doesnt matter if morrison was able to change his style and run from foreman, all that matters is what marciano actually did in the ring, period.

Jab??? Marciano had a 67' reach and was 5'10 how the hell is he gonna outjab foreman (who had a powerful long jab)? When did Rocky ever outjab anyone? Show me the footage.

 

This a logical flaw. The issue is that Morrison never actually did those things in the ring either until he fought a human statue.

I do want to find examples of Marciano doing those things just because though now lol

I wouldn't take those reach measurements so literal. Maricano had short arms but so did Morrison.

And here is Maricano catching the 6'1" Savold off guard with a jab. The jab was effective enough for Marciano that opponents often bit when he feinted, setting up his right hand.

Marciano momentarily moves away from Louis lead, who wouldn't ? It isn't exactly Willie Pep stuff is it? He wasn't totally devoid of ability ,the problem is for short armed swarmers ,when you are doing that ,you aren't scoring yourself. eg Frazier v Foreman 2
He certainly does as you describe, I wouldn't say it was a hard jab though.Against Layne he regroups for a second and fires a nice right hand. Layne though had sh*t defence . What is the Savold clip meant to prove? That Rocky could jab? Of course he could, was it an integral part of his arsenal?IMO no.
As to reach or other measurements how else can you take them but literally? You've got short arms? You get inside or try to. I'm not implying Marciano was totally one dimensional ,eg he practised the uppercut for the 2nd Walcott fight,I thinkJJW could have gotten up but that's beside the point, he knew what might work in a given situation.
Anyone who listens to Marciano's excellent commentary on fights can readily tell he was an astute observer of styles and a fine reader of fights in fact I don't think I've heard a better one. Prime Rocky against ancient George? I don't see Marciano taking Foreman out,could an old George do it to Rocky? Yes but unlikely imo.
