Nope dirty would be accurate lol. Idk some fights were worse then others but one problem the Rock had was losing his cool. He would do anything to not lose. I could def see him on roids today. But then again I’d say 90 percent are on roids or some kind of supplement today.
I don’t see how pointing at his worst fight over and over again is going to prove your opinion of Marciano. Maybe do a breakdown of the Matthews fight or Walcott 1 or Charles 2 (his last great fight imo)

I'm not trying to prove my opinion of Marciano , others have theirs,I have mine.
I just saw this colorized version and thought it a good place to assess his plusses and negatives. I've no wish to convert anybody else to my point of view, which by the way, you only presume you know.
Losing his cool? Because of lack of condition in an amatuer bout Rocky was getting his arse whipped and resorted to kicking his opponent in the nuts.

No I think it was more a case that Don boxed well. Early on the Englishman was able to box and beat Rocky to the punch within a distance Rocky usually had the advantage. It prevents Rocky from stringing more than two punches together because here Don is able to land first and turn Rocky when he falls in to follow up.

Later Rocky was able to trap Don. Counter. And stun him, which changed the direction of the fight entirely. If Rockys judgment of distance and balance was that poor he never would have turned things around.

You are not giving Don the technical credit Mike Tyson and Cus D’Amato gave him Please go to the 26:00 mark.

Yes that and he would often lose his cool sparring even (maybe especially) with his brother.

Marciano hit Walcott when Joe was on his knees unconscious after that brutal "Suzy Q" punch in their first fight. He casually hits Joe
as he is walking towards the neutral corner. Just a love tap, I suppose. Or one more to make sure he's out for the count.

He also give C*ckell a nice little shot while the Englishman was on his knees. Probably due to frustration, but still...

Marciano can be seen swinging wildy and missing here ,he was all over the place, lets not pretend Cokkell was some Jimmy Young /Chris Byrd ,he wasn't.

Don boxed very well indeed. Going into the Fight with Marciano there was probably only two heavyweights in the world who would clearly be given a 100% chance of beating the world #2 rated Don Cokkell.

After what he went through in the fight with Marciano Don was no longer capable of beating anybody in the top 20.

The problem is of course that Don is never judged on the fighter he really was going into that fight. Don is ONLY remembered as the fighter he was After that fight.

Apart from Mike Tyson and Cus D’Amato, Nobody credits cokkell for the first 4 rounds with Rocky.

Someone else tried saying that shot when Joe was out was dirty but that’s bs. Watch the fight and it was def pulled back (Walcott wasn’t technically down as he was stuck on the ropes anyway). He def fought dirty at times but that wasn’t one of them

To pretend that this display, by this level of athlete, is in anyway analogous or relevant to the modern heavyweight division is to partake in a total and all-consuming delusion. Help should be seeked.

Maybe he should be judged as the fighter who was bounced around and stopped by a guy 12 lbs lighter than himself?
Or as the guy 178lbs Jimmy Slade dropped 4times before stopping him?
Cokkell got his rating from beating a washed up Lastarza and an overated Mathews. As far as I'm concerned he was never a world class heavyweight.
Here are the ratings when he fought Marciano

    1.Valdes
    2.Cokkell
    3.Charles
    4.Baker
    5'Walls
    6.Neuhaus
    7.Layne
    8.Jackson
    9.Norkus
    10.Slade
Of those other nine he fought two ,Valdes and Slade both stopped him.
Valdes in 3, Slade in 4.
Cokkell was given no chance against Marciano which was exactly right! Id back Valdes,Charles,Baker,Walls.Jackson,Layne to beat Cokkell pre Marciano,Slade already had! So would the majority of people!

He butted Walcott in the 6th round opening a gash over his left eye and causing a cut on his own hairline.

Walcott repeatedly held and hit. What’s your point? Boxing can get dirty sometimes.
