i'm just p*ssing in the wind.

Both guys were braver than brave and showed real fighting heart. That's what counts in my book.

    Carry on!

Yeah I forgot how good Gerald Washington is... he’s the guy who according to compubox won a fight landing just 13% of his punches! ...He beat a 45 year old journeyman Tim Austin to land a title fight with Wilder! ..are you kidding me? ... talk about a bogus record!

Washington, with clear height and reach advantage, was a bit busier throwing jabs, but the count of punches landed was not significant for both fighters. Rather, Washington simply looked busier while he missed 406 punches! Chambers landed 42 of 156 punches thrown, roughly one in four punches landed. Clean bout, no fouls, almost no holding, and no power punches of significance. The rounds appeared very close. Washington won them on the volume of punches thrown, and won seven or eight rounds by an average of three or four more punches landed per round. The crowd booed the bout for lack of heavyweight action

He'd beat Mathews and that version of Lastarza on consecutive nights!

The guy can’t beat live opponents ffs! You have no proof.

    A sham record.

Yes Lastarza and Mathews did have sham records, avoiding contenders in a poor era.

But Gerald Washington still has to be able to beat a live opponent. He has to have paid his dues. You cannot just say he beats Cokkell just because he is a bigger person. I mean, Rock Hudson the actor was a bigger man than Cokkell. Do you think he beats Cokkell and Mathews on the same night? It’s almost the same logic.

I too met Don ****ell he was a real nice guy. When someone asked him about Rocky he said " What I didnt realise was when he crouched my only target was the top of his head & you could have hit that with a 2x4 & it wouldnt phase him" LOL As if he'd known that sooner did he think he could have beaten Rocky ? Don grinned & said " No way he was too bloody good for me "

He was a very nice man and a very modest one.Not perhaps a world class fighter as regards talent ,but at the front of the queue.when it came to courage!
