I just re-watched the footage. The ref doesn't wipe Marciano gloves. Marciano gets up faster than the count, and walks to the ropes to hold it for a second. The ref grabs one glove, then they continue fighting. That edit in that youtube version is no more than a 5 second clipping. If even that.

If anything the Ref didn't give Rocky enough time.

I have honestly never seen it. Why hasn't this been made public before?

Thanks, thats exactly how i remember it. I remember moore went for rock with some right handers when he got up but marciano closed him down and went back at him. It was much like the time he was dropped by wallcot he just got up and won the next exchange.
Having read moores fable I needed to double check but all i can find is the you tube type hi lights. I just got to thinking how new fans might be tricked by archies story if all they can find is the hilights - which is just wrong. I know i have read some pieces on this fight that buy archies side of the tall story. Bob mee's "heavyweights" being just one book.

I don't really know Archie's case. Even Foreman didn't make that clear. I think he thinks the ref pulls Rocky's glove to shake him out of his dazed-ness. I think Moore wanted to win the HW championship so bad that he just denied himself the truth after he saw Marciano got up and fought back so hard after landing such a good shot on him.

Maybe I'll upload the fight on Youtube or Megaupload.

Its in archies auto biography. He had a history with kesler who was a big shot in a small town he couldnt crack years earlier and basicly blames kesler when in his biggest fight lands the job as ref. Its also in peter hellers "in this corner" in each case its the same story. according to archie he was prevented from winning by an arch enamy, rocky gets a standing count and kesler tuggs on his arms to wake him up with a jolt moore describes as a "snatch". its obvious sour grapes and lets him down big time, but as you say the power of denial, it grows with each telling and like the cooper story is belived to some extent by some largly because it cant be disproved when viewing the hilights. a great pity because archie had a great career and a great adventure of a life.

But like with the Cooper story we can see with out own eyes that Ali got no more than 5-10 seconds.

With the Moore vs Rocky fight, we can see that Archie is just seeing things. There's hardly anything suspicious or telling to me even if I try to look for it.

exactly. its just that if you read the myth and watch the bogus hilights first there is some room if you want to belive.
I saw the real one first but i meet guys who watched the hilights first and they think archie was robbed. it stinks.

Marciano ate a hook / uppercut right paw from Moore in round 2 back in '55, and Marciano went down, but he got up quickly and seemed composed well enough for me..... At any rate, Marciano stormed back......

The commentator was horrible.... I recall during one of the rds he kept saying 30 seconds remaind in the round for about 30 seconds.... WTF?

So ya think Vitlai would get his face busted up, knocked down, and lose multiple rounds to blown up light heavies and cruisers?

Pete, your either living in the 1950's or the Matrix.

Your wrong, at one point MArciano did become arm weary vs Moore. True triva, Rocky had 17 clean whiffs in one round.

Vitali destroys the Moore who fought Marciano.

    When did I say that?

I'm making fun of your arm-weary comment. As you're clearly just throwing that bull**** from the sky.

I got that too.... I'm not big on the replays from Marciano's show "The Main Event." They butchered too many fights with quick editing jobs, etc.... But, I do take what I can get from the old days....
    :deal
However, I have the TV video (Full-Fight) program of "Marciano-Moore" and the actual commentator at ringside was merely a blabber.... I'm not sure what his name was... It wasn't Don Dunphy...... But he kept saying: "30 Seconds are left" over and over for 30 seconds.... It was weak.....
    :thumbsup

Bill Corum was a GREAT commentator and for the most part was pretty spot on on what was going on in that fight.

He even was the commentator for the Walcott fight, with the 13th round ko.

He even mention's Rocky's arm weary in round 7, the complete fight is pretty easy to get, its not some odd rare fight, that only 3 or 5 people have lol.

I dont know why people keep bringing up the count, the full round is replay evey month on espn classic. If you have espn classic, watch the uncut Marciano Moore fight(Which they aired more often than the chop up version on Marciano's tv show.)

Again I like Bill Corum, he did a great job, and may God bless his soul.
    Past in 58 I belive.
