Bucceroni weighed 181.75lbs when Lastarza beat him, in his last fight ,a month earlier he was 178.5lbs.

My contention is Lastarza was a soft challenger for Marciano, a manufactured, carefully steered one who beat a diminished Layne and no one else of any significance at heavyweight.

Bucceroni could crack ? His best stoppage scalp was over a washed up Beshore, his kos are over nobodies and lhvy's.
But this is getting us away from the thread.

Marciano would be hell on earth for Tokyo Douglas and stop him as a result of the accumulation of sledgehammer shots that would break Douglas' will. Totally different fight. Marciano would be throwing twice the number of punches that Tyson did, in nonstop fashion, with more aggressive footwork, and way better head movement and counterpunching.

And LaStarza was likely only 185 or less, doubtful he had any type of huge weight advantage.

He was certainly protected in contrast to other contenders of his day, but that doesn't necessarily mean he was bad or manufactured, just well managed. Not the first, or the last to play that game. He got his share of good press from time to time, mliked the first Maricano fight, and delivered a good effort when he got his actual title shot.

Same as most any other decent fighter described as a puncher. And we know your standards for punching power vary depending on the fighter and the argument.

Is there any part of my statement about Bucceroni that is false or inaccurate?
What is his best stoppage at heavyweight if not Beshore?
If you disagree with me elaborate .I'm open to being convinced but I require a lucid argument.

Here is an old post by the late lamented Joe Rein ,one of the best posters here ever.Burt B responds.

He was thrilling, knowing he could lower the boom any second.

Any of you guys have any recollections of him?

I sure do jg. I saw Bucceroni on tv a few times and he had a booming right hand. I also saw Bucceroni at MSG where he fought the tough and rugged southpaw Irish Bob Murphy who stopped the more talented but less rugged
Bucceroni...A real barn burner that fight was...Bucceroni stepped up to the heavyweights but didn't do too well losing to Roland LaStarza and Hurricane Jackson...Today with his punching power he might have won the LHW title...

I haven't descended to personalities,[I'm reserving that for Bummy who hasn't come back since he got owned on the other thread,] Why are you?

You challenged the claim that he could crack. I disagree with your reasoning and find it inconsistent for reasons explained.

:huh Well, you are the one that doesn't feel he could crack. So ok...I'll take both men at their word that he could.

I think he could crack at Lightheavyweight.
Who did he stop at heavyweight?

Well, he started a LHW in his early 20s, outgrew the divison, and stepped up in competition as a HW, hanging around as a top contender for a year or two.

He apparently nearly had a 1 round KO over Harrison that was saved by the bell, followed by a hand injury. He seemed to score knockdowns and was described as badly hurting guys, he just wasn't much of a finsher against other HW contenders. Doesn't mean he couldn't crack.

Nobody is billing him as a knockout artist, just a guy that could crack.

An example of a thread that reeks of over-analysis.

Let's be real here-Walcott, as amazing as he was at 38-gave Rocky all he could handle for 13 rounds. Douglas-that version of him-is a step beyond, at least.

The only conclusion that I can draw is...this is a tougher fight (much tougher?) than was Walcott 1 for Rocky...

I think Tyson was a very confused and frustrated young man against Tokyo Douglas who worked him out. Tyson was still in his prime yet he was having to adapt to a resistance at a higher level than quick Tillis. He was not used to being beaten to the punch. The more he got hit the more frustrated he became. The more confused he was the less he moved his head. He was brave but Tyson ran out of ideas far too quickly.

Douglas wasn't as quick as Walcott or as unorthdox and slippery. Just not a good comparision at all.

Watch the fight again. Walcott wasn't very slippery by the 9th round. He was old and getting tired. Those tricks are more difficult to pull off when you are geriatric and heading to the championship rounds. And Walcott's unorthodoxy did not always benefit him.

Also, you don't need a lot fancy tricks when you are 6-4 with an 83 inch reach. You just need to enforce your advantages over your opponent. Dropping your range so you can do a few fancy steps or shoulder rolls is a bad idea.

You were corrected and made to look a fool by Black Cloud simply because you don't know the ENGLISH LANGUAGE.
You tried to have a go at me and it backfired on you, but as usual you haven't the balls to admit it.

I haven't been in Paris since my 63rd birthday ,when we celebrated at Le Coupole.Oysters , Chablis, Champagne, and I forget the main course,Fish?
Last year it was Rome,in the Magnolia Ristorante, veal, lamb , 3 bottles of Peccorino ,plus a few Perroni's
Wealth is relative, I have more than enough to last me, I'm very comfortable compared to some less fortunate ,a pauper to others.

How about yourself, did you retire at 56?
Can you live off your investments?
Not only live, but live well and still show a profit?

    Somehow I doubt it.:bart

Just got the news, I won't be in Lincolnshire running a dog tomorrow, the ground is too hard so I'll have to find something else to occupy my empty life for the day.

All this boasting would be insufferable if:
    1. It wasn't true
    2.You hadn't made a grave tactical error implying I don't have a full life.
Compared to you I guess I'm an OAP jet setter!

Now remember, it's the ENGLISH LANGUAGE, not the American language.

Talking of wars, I'm going to be spending a few days in Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, you know Saigon ,that place you Yanks got ran out of , tails between your legs exiting clinging on to helicopters.See below.

The War of Independence is about the last one you won isn't it and then you had to have the French to help you?
You were forced into the two WW's and entered them halfway through, got stuffed in Korea, and stuffed in VietNam.
I don't think you should be trumpeting about your victories, they have been as few and far between as yours on here.:rofl

The reason I've made twice as many posts as you is really simple I've got something to say, and you really haven't have you?
    Only cowardly personal insults.
