Ugh ok lemme break this down 1. 24 fights compared to 17, whoopty doo. The loss was a long time ago, considered a controversial decision, and many fighters had losses against random names back then. Frequent fights sometimes led to that. Henry Armstrong lost his first fight. 2. Foreman, in the best condition of his life, was 6'4" 217. Though he frequently weighed about 220. Foreman was more thickley built, yes. Does this make Wilder an inferior fighter? What about Fitzsimmons? You don't know how body fat works. Body fat is required to live. Sonny Liston was about 18-20% bodyfat, he really wasn't that lean. Same with Foreman, except for his 217 version. Guys like Wilder are about 15% bodyfat. Not to mention you have to bring bone structure into this. Liston, like say, Jeffries, Tyson, etc. Had a dense structure. Some people aren't built like that. 3. You were being disrespectful for writing off a great up and comer, and honestly, you probably did it just to find a way to diss Marciano. Vingo was fine, great win for Marciano. 4. Vingo was coming off wins against 16-2 Joe Modzele 17-4 Don Mogard (poor sap, terribly managed) Not to mention the first fight of his career was against a 6-0 Barney Metten Marciano was to be his final step up before he rode to contention
We obviously have different definitions of the word "great".Vingo was not a great fighter imo. You are spouting absolute rubbish because you are butt hurt that you think someone is somehow dissing Marciano it really is pathetic! Pathetic, but infinitely predictable! ps Vingo was coming off a win over a debutee! You have abosolutely no idea how much body fat anyone those you named has so please stop talking as though you have some medical knowledge hitherto denied to the rest of us.It's not only condescending, it makes you look like a fool. NB I didn't bring up fat , you and your fellow Rockista did, and neither of you have any more inside information on it than anyone else! ps Barney Metton's previous opponents were ; 0-7-0 2-11-0 1-2-0 0-0-0 3-3-6 0-9-6 I venture it would not be hard to go undefeated against such opposition!Wetton is 6wins 3losses Where is the proof Vingo was being prepared for stepping up into contendership? This is just wishful conjecture on your part!
"Vingo was 6'4" and just 189lbs.Foreman for example was 6'3"224lbs without any fat, that is 35 lbs heavier.Liston was 6'1", 212/218lbs without any fat." -You After following bodybuilding for so long, I have a good eye for it. One of my pastimes is analyzing fighters' physiques and finding the best, most conditioned pictures of them Also, 2 things: 1. I only pointed out the possibility that you had, lets say, ulterior motives. 2. I called Vingo a great prospect/up-and-comer. I never claimed he was a great fighter. Both him and Marciano at the time were green.
Marciano had a nothing of an amateur career and his professional career had so far lasted a whopping 1 year (not counting the Epperson fight, which happened in the middle of his amateur career). Not to mention he was still developing and hadn't fought anyone of note. I do this for fun at this point lol
How would not being a main event help the case of them not being green? You know what, nvm. *Listens to All The Small Things by Blink 182*
