Tyson by TKO within 6 rounds.
I think Marciano will hit the canvas a few times, but keep getting up and the ref will step in at some point. This is a horrible fight for Rocky since he'd be facing a heavier, faster, more powerful, stronger swarmer, but he will fight back hard. I absolutely do not see Marciano stopping Tyson at all in a peak for peak match-up when Tyson had superb 12 round stamina, however Rocky could KO front-runner, headhunter, slugger post-prison Tyson if he got past round 5.

I'm not a part of the Tyson is the best brigade, although he's one of my fave fighters that ever lived. Anyway, i do think he has a great chance here, they're going to meet head on, and Tyson has a great chance of simply landing more and cleaner, because he is technically superior and more skilled. On paper i like him big. There is a massive lingering feeling here for me though, and that is what happens if Marciano is still there as the fight progresses, which will of course be a gruelling affair. Because at the end of the day, regardless of the level of competition, regardless of size or skill issues, Rocky Marciano has won them kind of fights, and Mike Tyson hasn't.

I'll take Tyson on the most tentative pick i've ever made in my life.

This is my opinion. Sorry you don't approve. To me it's a mismatch.

Can't help being a trouble maker, can you Twat ? You're like the third or fourth man in any mob. No balls to lead but will squeek from the back to stir the pot. SQ can be a hothead child at times but at least he has balls.

that's because douglas and holyfield were outboxing him and tyson didn't now what to do to that...i don't see marciano as skilled as holy or even douglas. he's a brawler, not a boxer. tyson would do well in a slugfest where strategy goes out the window.

I just think that if a fighter like Buster Douglas can beat him when he was 24 then I just think that Tyson folding is not a million miles from the surface even on the nights when it looked like he was unbeatable - if things don't go his way. Certainly, aside from the Ruddock II fight, every really tough fight he's ever had he not only lost but didn't finish. However great Tyson has looked in his heyday - I always have that thing that keeps bugging me that even though they came later in his career I have seen Tyson go winless everytime against the best fighters he actually faced in his career. Not only that but he was the significant favourite going into 3 of his loses - so major upsets are not exactly a rarity against him either?? Then I keep reminding myself of how unbeatable he looked in his pre and early title days - but was it just that the level of his opposition was substantially poorer - after all proabably his best two opponents in his pre title days both took him the distance (Mitch Green and Quick Tillis). It always comes as a shock whenever you see Tyson look all too human but the fact i have seen it on numerous occassions leaves that bit of doubt in the back of my mind - whereas with Rocky there are no doubts whatsoever. With Tyson if you push him onto the back foot he looks lost and when things do not go his way he actually fights poorly. Even the likes of Bonehugger Smith were able to stifle and nullify him enough to get by - just by tying him up and walking him back. He was and always will remain my favourite fighter of my lifetime and my heart would be with him in every fight but in my opinion Mike's best fight was versus Mitch Green and for those talking up a first round knockout of Marciano (LOL) you're not telling me that Mitch was a better fighter than one of the sports true legends are you?? Well how did he last 10 and stick it to Tyson on occassion with his feather fists if Marciano doesn't make it out of the first??? No, sorry but truth be told Marciano would stop Tyson late - great great fight but Tyson would get stopped whether it came down to his wilting syche, stamina or just plain old not being able to absord the punches. I see the end late maybe 10 rounds or so.

these people who talk about overrated (marciano) or lost to the only good fighters he faced or the only tough fight he had (tyson)...are naive and take success for granted...

I lean toward Tyson in this one but a Marciano win isn't out of the question. When I watdh the Marciano/Walcott brawl I see Rocky taking many hard shots from a chiseled 200lb Walcott who could punch and keep on coming. Rocky also fought faster than we are accustomed to seeing him due to Walcott's forcing him to which showed me that Rocky, though never a speedster, could pick up the pace if he had to. I think it boils down to this-Tyson early or Rocky late. Tyson certainly had the speed and power to jump on Rocky from the opening bell and look to end it early. I tend to lean toward this. But if Rocky survives and takes this into the later rounds making this a war of attrition then I could also see Rocky winning. Marciano at his best was a very discouraging fighter who carried his power late into a fight. Tyson was somewhat Liston-esque in his approach to battle. Intimidation was his biggest asset. At the very least Rocky would not be intimidated and would come to fight unlike quite a few of Tyson's opponents who were beaten before the bell rang. Tyson had the physical goods to end this early and as I said before I lean toward this outcome. If he doesn't though it could be a long night for him against a prime well conditioned Marciano.

Yes, we all know any posting on an internet forum takes balls.

By the way, it's ironic telling someone they have no balls on an internet forum. Love to see you say so to my face.

I really think that this is when the general makes fun of us, and you know it's right. Marciano is my favorite fighter, but the fact he got over 30% of the votes is a little mind-boggling. Tyson should be a heavy heavy favorite. Marciano is extremely over-matched in an incredibly terrible style matchup. Had Marciano gotten 10-15% of the votes, that would be a bit more okay because Tyson has looked bad in fights where he's tactically, strategically, or stylistically out-matched. People who say Tyson blows Marciano out of the water in 1 round might be going extreme, but those that pick Marciano or certainly taking on the same type of chances.
