Yeah, that's about it. If I was forced to bet, I'd bet on Frazier, but that could be because of personal preference.
Oh **** yeah, I would end up picking Frazier because I loved him, but unless I see a 1000 word breakdown on why, supported by video footage, everybody is basically guessing on this one. You wouldn't even know which way it would go after round 5, never mind in the build up.
HHascup counted the punches in each round of these fights and posted the results. I am prepared to take his word for it.
The intrigue in this fight lies not only in that both guys possess very similar attributes, but that they were also used to fighting taller guys. It could come down to who adjusts the best to fighting someone their own height.
I am as well. Man, that's dedication for you! Is there any fantasy HW match-up you'd rather like to see than this one? I can't think of one.
Hit like Foreman, huh? Foreman would have blasted out Cockell, not struggle mightily to finally finish him.
I think Frazier had faster hands ,Marciano had better one punch power ,and Rocky had better two fisted power imo. I like Marciano in about 10rds.
You are talking about Marciano's worst fight in which he was not motorvated and using that as an example. Foreman struggled to ko 16-19-4 George 'Scapiron" Johnson who was 5"9 and overweight, Foreman could also not stop Levi Forte 19-21-2 and Foreman had a lot of trouble in 2 fights with Gregorio Peralta who he could not floor. Peralta was more than likely the best opponent Foreman Faced up until Frazier because Foreman fought a lot of bums and Peralta weighed in at 196 lbs. Marciano did not look great in his domination of Cockel but the game Englishman went out on his sheild and tried to survive but it was still a domination. Peralta was a good fighter but not in the class of a Charles, Moore, Walcott or even an old Joe Louis
First of all. When has Frazier ever tired out besides the 110+ heat in Manilla? Frazier is a slow starter for the first 2 or 3 rounds, then starts to warm up and gets better as the fight goes on. Frazier was the more consistent better bodypuncher in my opinion. Marciano had the tendency to headhunt and throw his looping overhand rights from a crouch. When Marciano crouched he had the tendency to lean toward the left. He would be right in the line of fire for Frazier's left hook who worked his hook from a crouch as well. He also was a good fighter from mid range where Marciano was not nearly as effective. It really baffles me why you knock Frazier's stamina so much. One of his best qualities is his excellent stamina as is Marciano.
Tired out is strong. I think it's safe to say that Frazier was a little weary and tired out at the end of the Bugner fight in my honest opinion. I was also argue that he looks much more tired against Ali in FOTC than Marciano did in any finish to a fight - Charles I in particular. Obviously he did with good reason though (He had Ali on the other end). Look another posted said, Marciano throwing more punches & having better stamina is a gimme. I was amazed people disputed this and stated against this. I feel it's preference that's getting in the way of objectivity. Mind you I'm a huge Frazier fan. I go back and forth on this fight but "out-working" the all time worker wasn't why. I agree. I mentioned this point as well. However, it's important to note that Marciano does tend to do a lot of body work when he has his man on the ropes or when fighting a taller man (Louis). I wonder how he would respond to a body puncher like Frazier... I'd guess go to the body right back. Umm... think you got your rights and lefts confused. Marciano when crouched leaned toward the right. Frazier was better fighter at launching from a distance. As he launched with the left hook attack and had longer reach (But he's only better at range with the left hand. I don't find it style-wise something Marciano is vulnerable too). However, Frazier is arguably more swarmer/swarming than Marciano (Due to love crowding and going to the body but that probably wouldn't be important and can be debatable). When am I knocking Frazier's stamina? I called him a workhouse and said he had excellent stamina. You said his stamina equals Marciano and anybody with that belief would be under the opinion that I was knocking Frazier's stamina for thinking other wise.
It looks like we are on the same page for the most part. This fight is so hard because Frazier and Marciano are equal overall. Each do better in specific departments of fighting while they are equal in some as well.
We have the 5 rounds to go by and the round by round. It seems listening to the fight, Rocky relly pick up the pace in the 5th round and keep pressing. In round 15, Rocky thown over a 100 punchings. Fraizer's punch out put was not that high, even in round 11.
I cant think of one either but at the same time part of me is glad that it didnt happen. I bet that neither of them would have done any good ever again after this fight.
