I think Greb can be competitive against most of the heavys and I think he can stay mucled and fit even at 190. the thing that make me think he would lose to Marciano is the firepower. James Toney was a middleweight and moved up, Toney is 5"9-5"10 he is 39 and overweight but he was on the verge of stopping Rahman in there last fight and was one of the few men to stop Holyfield. The thing we forget about Marciano was although he weighed 188 and was 5"11, he had extrodinary power and is still considered one of the top 5 hardest hitting heavyweights ever, so despite his size the man had FREAKISH power and was not a NORMAL fighter for his size
Foreman Liston Lewis Tyson Tua Shavers Langford Six heavyweights off the top of my head that hit harder than Marciano. You could easily put Dempsey, Louis, Sullivan, Johannsson, Baer and Willard in the same class ...
I don't think anybody has made Greb even money but at the risk of getting roasted: Greb would pose a whole heap of problems for all those guys. For a guy like Foreman or Liston the problems that fighters like Tunney had hitting Greb flush would only get worse. This is simply a fighter that nobody is going to have an easy time with however big they are. I don't blame the people who are critical of those promoting Greb's chances here because I understand that we are asking a lot of them.
Although its hard to measure a punch. I think we would have to say that Shavers and Tua were not top quality fighters. I see the way Byrd easily outpointed Tua and I would hate to think what would happen with CHARLES OR WALCOTT. I have SEEN SHAVERS GET BEAT BY ORDINARY FIGHTERS such as Bob Stallings and Tex Cobb, Bernard Mercado amoung others and blown out by Jerry Quarry and outslugged by club fighter Ron Stander. Shavers is known for his Ali and Holmes fights but his biggest win was over a KOable Ken Norton....If we are talking about power and not class we could put Bob Satterfield in the mix. Shavers is known for his losses.
Sam Langford was the hardest punching pound for pound fighter that ever lived. Jim Flynn, who fought them all including Dempsey said Langford was the hardest puncher he ever fought. Harry Wills, Joe Jeannette, Sam McVey all said no one hit like Langford. Langford was simply the best. If he had the advantages of today he would rewrite the record books .. he was that exceptional ...
by your logic, Greb never defeated ANY 185 SLUGGERS close to there physical prime. Almost all of the heavyweights greb fought were BOXER types, But none I can find that were slugger/swarmers. So going by your logic...Greb is vastly unproven vs a ATG slugger who holds 20lb on him. Looks like you have the double standards. Except he did not defeat THE top heavyweight of his time...A man who compares both in size/power/skill to Rocky Marciano. Therefore, greb never fought anyone close to the resemblence of Marciano. FYI I do not pick Marciano over Tyson, Foreman, or Liston. Looks like your the clown here. Let me add, I find it funny you call Marciano fans "illogical" when people have called you out on your own actions against Marciano as being biased. Not to mention I am just as big a Sonny Liston fan as I am Marciano. Does that mean Sonny Liston fans have no logic and all double standards?
Langford hit "Harder" than Marciano. I mean, no way of proving that. I certainly will not go along with that.
