marciano vs jones jr

I've always seen Jones winning this one, alot of people think that Marciano would catch him eventually and knock him out but I can't see it. Marciano is a small HW, who is much slower than Roy, I'd bet on a Jones UD.

 

Should we factor in the roids or not?

 

Even if you drug RJJ with tranquilizers and stick ankle weights on him, he would still be twice as fast as him.

RJJ was a one of a kind. He possessed speed, reflexes, power and skills in frightening levels.

Even if Maricano managed to get something on RJJ, he would have eaten 6-7 hard punches and his shot would have lost most of its power/accuracy.

 

A much slower older Walcott nearly managed it, I think RJJ could pull off a UD. Ofcourse Marciano can knock him out if he lands but he has to catch up to him

 

"much slower than Roy" is an understatement.

 

He would make Marciano look silly and batter him all 12 rounds. RJJ fought much faster boxers in his prime and hardly got hit and never went down. Marciano would be landing around 10-20 punches every round, of which would hit RJJs arms and graze his face. The rest of the 100 punches would miss. RJJ would put a big beating on Marciano, trust me.

 

However Jones should never even think of getting caught with his back on the ropes or he is dead meat.

 

Marciano looked big and strong Vs Ali in the computer fight. (very competitve) equal if not stronger than Smokin Joe.
If Joe Frazier and Ali could handle Roy Jones why not Rocky?

Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles, Joe Louis and Archie Moore were all really tough *******s. Was Roy tougher than all them?

I pick Roy to win over Rocky on speed UD. but I still give rocky 33% chance of winning by KO.

It's inevitable that Marciano will catch RJJ with something, but what is that something? He would struggle to catch RJJ properly and to KO a prime RJJ, he will have to catch him on the button. No one did it in there prime eg. Hopkins, Toney etc.

He also fought a great fight against Hopkins against the ropes, so he wasn't useless close up or in a rough fight.

Actually, a Toney v Marciano fight would be excellent!

 

Marciano will land something but how clean and powerful will it be? Will Rocky be balanced enough to land it? Jones took punches throughout his career and fired back too, look at the first Tarver fight where he took loads of bombs

 

Jones never beat anyone even remotely close to the level of Marciano, and he got knocked cold by far lesser fighters than Marciano.
Jones was more hype than substance, he looked flashy against bin men and bus drivers.
