I agree for the most part...except

Walcott had his two best rounds in 11-12. He literally staggered and hurt Marciano badly in round 11 with a left hook...while you could say Marciano "wore" Walcott down, Walcott was in great shape and had plenty left in the tank to box the last 3 rounds and win the decision. Marciano simply landed an All time knockout punch. Again, Walcott battered Marciano in rounds 11-12, marciano was bleeding and hanging on in round 11


Walcott looked like a great fighter that night on film. To me he did. Do you agree?

 

Marciano far from his best? That's BS. Marciano was in his prime in Walcott I. Walcott was simply amazing that night

 

Marcianos performance in Round 6 against Archie Moore was the best he's ever looked in my opinion. He did things in that round I've never seen any fighter in history do

 

Like I said, Marciano was in his prime fighting condition, but he wasn't at his best. He was blinded, and didn't spar for months before the fight

Also round 6 of Moore vs Marciano was wild, I love that round. Imo it was the most brutal swarming in the heavyweight division's history, and I saw a real glimpse of Marciano's prime in it. But I'm just repeating what I heard Marciano and his family say in interviews

 

Yes, he had Marciano going in the 11th... but he ran out of gas in the effort, and from the age, and from the attrition punching of Marciano. He is clearly out of gas in the 13th, retreating and stumbling and getting blasted when he tries to load up off the ropes. A dramatic victory for Marciano indeed. But among the greatest? Not really. Rather predictable that a young buck would beat an beaten down old stallion. A one punch KO? Not really. He nailed Walcott with some huge rights earlier to no effect. He definitely got him tenderized to actualize this finish.

 

Lastarza fought James Walls 31 days after he Marciano fight.

Yeah Walcott was 38, but watch the fight. Walcott looks great. His performance was incredible. Walcott showcases a brutal left hook, very fast hands, powerful uppercuts, sneaky counter right hand, very active work rate, good left jab, tricky footwork, and lots of guile.

Yeah, but Marciano stilled chipped bones in his arms. Is that technically a break or not?

 

Cant take much negative from this fight. Both fighters looked tremendous. It’s an all time great fight

I think its entirely possible Marciano made Joe look so good.I would expect the Walcott who went so close with Louis to do better against Rocky.He would have been 33 ,5years younger and not have the 4 fights with Charles mileage on his clock.

 

Forget marciano...watch Walcott. He looked great in all those areas described. if you didn’t know Walcott was 38 you would think you were watching an all time great champion in the ring against marciano

 

My point is, how much better could he have been when 5 years younger?

 

Yeah you could make a case he was slightly faster with better reflexes in the Louis fight
