I say he's lose decisively to McCall or Rachman who would dwarf him in strength and power. That being said your wrong.

McCall beat former world champions Damiani and Seldon. He beat Masekaev. He fought Tony Tucker to a stand still.
Rachman KO'ed Sanders, dropped Tua and drew w Toney.

Marciano was badly hurt and received a gift decision in his first fight w Ted Lowry, a journeyman. He won a razor thin, questionable decision over LaStarza. He was dropped by a 37 year old Joe Walcott and an older blown up light heavyweight in Archie Moore. Not knocking Marciano just laying out the facts.

He might have had an easier ride if he had come along a few years later, but retired before Liston came on the scene to be honest.

Imagine if a prime Marciano fought Jackson, Rademacher, Harris, London, Johannsson and McNeely ? Throw in Floyd .. no disrespect but he destroys that group.

Based on what? Marciano has a very thin track record against prime contenders.
Aging fighters are easier to break down because they are already half broken down to begin with. Youthfulness is a Dimension that Rocky is not that proven against.

37 and 39 is outrageously old in the pre PED era.

Imo Tyson's win over Holmes and Spinks are similar but better and more convincing than Marcianos over Louis and Moore due to Holmes going on and doing ok even years later while louis was done and Spinks being much younger than Moore and having gained muscle while staying in shape.

Really his best win imo is Charles, comparable to a 2003 RJJ at HW.

On the topic ofmarciano vsmccall and Rahman.... I think the picture of Marciano and Ali says just about everything that needs to be said.
Eventhemost die hard Rocky fan would realize it's not a fair match up as soon as he saw them in the ring together

The older fighters Marciano beat defeated numerous younger fighters to get to where they were. Numerous youngsters fell one after another before Archie Moore some of these guys were more than a decade younger.

In the 70s prime contenders were beaten back by a fat, badly declined Ali. I would say Ali's continued success post 1974 is more indicative of a poor era. There were numerous contenders as big or bigger than Ali even in Marcaino's day. How is Ali's size relevant?

Ali actually lost to someone who was only 5'11 and 205 pounds, the idea of Marciano beating him is hardly outlandish.

the word you keep ignoring is proportions, I think you keep ignoring it so that you can pretend you've won the arugment.

Rahman was Ring rated for years and got as high as #2 late in the peace. If that's decidedly mediocre plenty would love to reach it. There'd be no such thing as ATG's, they'd just reach "decent" or perhaps even "good" on a weak day.

    Much better.

Incidentally I have no problem with you picking Marciano over either and your reasons given. I'm more on the fence with what i find a difficult scenario to picture.

The reality is Marciano never fought anyone close to the combined size and skill set of a McCall or a Rachman. Rocky never fought a stronger man or a harder hitter than himself. Period , end of story. Against either man he'd be giving up over forty five pounds of muscle, strength, size and power. If you choose to use a belligerent attitude to hide the fact that you cannot distinguish between pound for pound vs H2H or rate your favorites objectively good luck w that.

Moore said Rocky was by far the strongest man he ever faced. The Rock was used to being the aggressor in there ,how he would deal with a good man who outsized him by so much is a moot point.

Yeah, impressive Moore said that about marciano when he fought big Valdes twice.

There is no doubt marciano was built like a brick house
