I'm the biggest Marciano fan, here is my opinion

Marciano knocks out Dempsey late. I think its very close but give Rocky the edge because he was more intelligent in the ring than jack, took a better punch, and was slightly physically stronger. I think Marciano fought more composed while Dempsey could be wild and reckless on the inside which is where the fight would take place. Dempsey was very dangerous early and had a lot of speed...Marciano would really have to be on to make it out of those first 5 rounds. I think he makes it out and turns the momentum.

    Louis knocks out Marciano

Liston wins unanimous decision or late stoppage over Marciano

    Foreman knocks out Marciano

    Marciano knocks out shavers early

Wilder knocks out Marciano. Too much height reach athleticism and power. Not fair for Marciano

Wladimir knocks out Marciano. See wilder. Not fair for Marciano

Lewis knocks out Marciano. See wilder. Not fair for Marciano

Marciano late stoppage cooney. A cooney win earlywouldn't surprise me a lot of height and reach here. But think levels people. Marciano I think would survive cooney early. Take him to deeper waters, and wear him down. Beat down the body the head goes down with it. Cooney didn't have the best chin, one Suzy Q right hand late ends it for Marciano.

Marciano knocks out lyle. Great fight. Again think levels. Lyle was good but not great. And he wasn't tall enough or big enough to completely mandhandle Marciano with his size and reach alone. Marciano had an iron chin for his size and he could survive and wear down a tired Lyle for a mid round stoppage.

Shavers doesn't have a prayer...he had no chin and no stamina. And he wasn't that big (6' 205) Marciano would lick his chops to fight someone like that. Marciano would take shavers heart. Shavers allowed himself to get outslugged by a smallish aging alcoholic Quarry in 73

If you put a gun to my head I would say:

Dempsey, Liston, Louis, Foreman, Lewis and Wlad beat him.

He beats Shavers, Lyle, Cooney, and Wilder.

Marciano was dropped by a 39 years old 188lbs Archie Moore ,dropped and ,by his own admission stunned for several seconds.Shavers hit appreciably harder than Moore, was 20lbs bigger and would not be nearly 40years old ,he also has 11 inches reach on Marciano .Smallish, aging, alcoholic Quarry had some pretty good results in1973!

Smallish aging alcoholic Quarry would have gotten slaughtered by Marciano and everyone knows it! An embarrassing result for shavers who got outslugged by the 202lb Quarry. Imagine if that were a prime Marciano in there!

Moore set up Marciano with a beautiful right hand counter uppercut...which Marciano got up in 2 seconds and continued fighting! Name me one fight where shavers uses a shoulder roll to a counter right uppercut to drop his opponent?

You put so much stock into Marciano getting dropped for a 2 count by boxings all time leading knockout puncher...what about shavers getting destroyed by Ron stander! Shavers didn't get back up in that fight! And the 202lb Quarry who destroyed shavers at his own game!

How could we forget shavers wide decision loss to 21-24 Bob stalling!

Shavers had an awful chin, and poor stamina...can you imagine a better matchup for a prime Marciano than a fighter with those traits?

Shavers was 6' 205lb...not much bigger than Marciano. Height and reach don't come into play here!

You need to be more than a one trick pony to defeat a prime Marciano.

Come on...how the hell is he gonna hit the 6'7 83" reach wilder who is very athletic and hits like a Mack track. Marciano would get killed in there

    Marciano beats Dempsey though

Good post, and fair. Maybe Rocky gets through first with a right hand to one of the above that you have him losing to, but I kinda doubt it — he was a slow starter and needed to wear an opponent down. I don’t think he gets the chance with most of those guys (either can’t get to them or gets overwhelmed) but I’d give him the best shot against Liston of that lot.

Cooney I could see it going as you describe but I also think it’s possible Big Ger lands a left hook in the first couple of rounds and Marciano never recovers — Gerry was a very good finisher if he had you.

Reason I posted this wonderful insighted original thread was in response to seeing my man Smokin Joe continually get kicked to the curb here while Marciano has a shrine built around him at this point. Truth be told I'll take the best version of Frazier over the best version of Rocky any day of the week.
I trained at his gym and I have the utmost respect for him as a fighter and a man. I got to witness him up close and he was a sight to behold even as he was getting up in age.
That's why I made this thread if that's alright with you.

So you were upset the way Frazier was getting treated by posters in the other thread so you take your anger out on Marciano?

What's this shrine built around Marciano you're talking about? Marciano typically has the biggest critics on the board.

Well, sh*t, then we totally agree. I thought this mundane sort of topic was odd for you. But now I see your logic and am in accord. All apologies.
