Dempsey stopped Willard and Joe Louis stopped Primo Carnera.

    Carnera

Rocky KO round 11 in one of the ugliest but very action packed bouts in heavyweight history. Combine Rocky vs Vingo and Carnerna vs Louis and you have a good idea of how it would look. Carnera has success early but ultimately is too frail and uncoordinated to win a fire fight here. If he knew how to properly fight like a big man and has Emmanuel Steward in his corner...perhaps he could pull off the impossible. But the way Carnera actually was, I don't ser him winning outside of a 1 in 20 punchers chance (I don't even give him a 1/10 chance since Rocky had a solid chin and good recovery while Carnera didn't exactly have devastating power for such a large man and wasn't a great finisher either).

    B. Baer

Rocky KO in 9. Baer is big and strong but the difference in experience and technique is quite large, which says a lot since Rocky was no technical genius by any means. Might resemble the Rex Layne fight but Baer might actually knock Rocky down and really pressure him.

    A. Simon

Rocky KO round 5. Simon doesn't offer much other than simply being tall and having tremendous strength, which could look interesting seeing how Rocky adjusts. But you need more than that if Rocky is better in every other category.

    Jess Willard

Hmmm...this one I'm not sure actually. Prime Willard had incredibly high stamina for such a big stocky guy. He could also take insane punishment: people forget there was no neutral corner in the Dempsey fight and he was inactive for several years in a scorching hot Arena. Dempsey's fast weight shifting roll technique hitting from odd angles is how the initial knock down was produced. Rocky had none of that, he came forward relentlessly in a straight forward fashion with the occasional dip to the side and crouch to build power for his right hand.

How many rounds did Willard win against Johnson? I feel like if he was outboxing him before the KO he could definitely pull off a win in a "mere" 15 rounds.

Marciano beats them all, perhaps a hard hitter like Baer has a 1% chance to pull off an upset. But i doubt it

The big guys who would beat Marciano are hard hitting super skilled ones like Lewis, Bowe, Vitali etc. Decent to good big guys aren't beating him.

I understand a past prime & in imperfect condition Johnson was clearly ahead at 20 rounds.
He only lost due to the stamina of the much bigger Willard-who he could not tie up & exhaust like others, quite the contrary.

Funny thing is that a lot of people would say that Marciani could lose to likes of Bonecrusher Smith or Jarred Miller but here, he sweeps them all without much problems.

Vingo was 189lbs a stringbean novice, certainly no giant.
Baer was durable and he could hit ,he has the size, power, and chin and heart to give Rocky problems.
I pick Marciano but ,if he gets Buddy out of there I think it would be late, and I'm leaning towards a hard fought dec win for Rocky.
Simon had a very good chin,he went 13 rds with a prime Louis .I see no reason why he couldnt do at least the same with Marciano, though I think Rocky wins again, Abe might go the route and lose a lopsided decision. Willard was well behind at the time of the stoppage against Johnson, but never in danger of being stopped.
Of course Rocky would be applying constant pressure ,but Jess had a fine uppercut and Marciano would be taking some shots. If Jess was better at clinching he might survive, but I think Marciano would eventually get him into trouble and the fight would be stopped late.Again its not beyond the realms of possibility that Jess goes the route to lose on work rate, becuase Rocky was a lot more methodical than the explosive Dempsey and he would be facing a prime version of Willard ,not the complacent, ill conditioned, old guy that Jack massacred.
Carnera goes about 9/10 rds before succumbing to Rocky's right hands.
His size would delay the inevitable for that long.
