Rocky has a +-85% KO ratio against guys that could be cruisers today. Holyfield 70% Also Haye dehydrated to stay at cw.
Holy and Haye are live dogs. over 10 Jones wins but over 12 I fancy rocky. I make him a favourite over any and all guys weighing below 200 given a 12 round limit.
Marciano would get the **** beat out of him in order to beat the **** out of Holyfield. That is his closest competition.
only HolyField would give Marciano problems and all those guys who are arguing Haye would win - geez, Marciano would make mince meat out of him.
I think of a heavyweight as a man who would be 200-225 and in good shape, neither bulky nor thin. Holy and Haye both have Ali's measurements 6'3 78" reach. They all started out at 190 when they were kids but they couldn't stay down that far their whole career. A guy that size doesn't need steroids to be 210-215. Evander needed them when he was 45 to be competitive and keep some of the physique he had as a younger man, but he wouldn't need them in his prime any more than Ali would. If you go back and look at his cruiserweight fights he's tall and thin as a beanstalk. He's totally cutting weight to get down to that division. A shorter guy like Qawi 5'7" is bulking up just to get to cruiserweight. And James Toney 5'10" or Marciano at 5'11" should be about 190 lbs. A natural cruiserweight should be something like 5'11"-6'1" so they can get to around 200 pounds without cutting weight or bulking up and putting undo stress on their bodies. A natural heavyweight should be between 6'1 and 6'4 to make it under the 225 pound bar. What we have with the Klitschko's, Lennox Lewis, Tyson Fury, and Lance Whitaker are Super Heavyweights, guys who couldn't cut down to 225 if they wanted to and they should be fighting in a totally different weight class than the others. Unfortunately, today we have performance enhancing drugs that add 40 pounds of muscle onto your frame and day before the fight weigh ins which allow people to cut weight then balloon up and hardly anybody is fighting in their natural weight class anymore. But if we turned back the clock to say 1950 those are the right sizes for the weight classes.
Bash Ali? Honestly? No! Anyway, let's look at some of the best Cruiserweights- Holyfield- He is #1 on most, if not all CW lists. All-time great HW as well. Qawi- LHW and CW Champ. He was only stopped by Holyfield and Foreman. Lost 15 round decisions to M. Spinks (pretty close) and Holyfield (SD). He beat M. Muhammad x2, Jerry Martin, Eddie Davis, Piet Crous, and L. Spinks. Lost a MD to Ocasio while past prime and a SD to Robert Daniels while very past prime. He also beat T. Booze, L. Roy Murphy, and R. Parkey among others. DeLeon- 4x CW Champ. Beat Camel x2, lost by KO to Gordon but beat him in a rematch, beat L. Spinks, Y. Lopez, Anthony Davis, Bash Ali x2, lost a SD to Alfonzo Ratliff, and beat B. Benton before losing by 8th round KO to Holyfield. He went on to draw with J. Nelson and lost a close fight to M. Duran before getting beat down by Corrie Sanders and Brian Nielsen while washed up. Others- Toney, Haye, Adamek, Jirov, Cole, Norris, Czyz, Ocasio... A. Williams, Daniels, and Washington on a good night and a few others. I'd pick Marciano vs. any of them except Holyfield. Haye would be trouble... so would Toney and a few others but I'd still bet on Rocky.
Q, Outside of Holyfield, I think Rocky beats them all. Holy vs Rocky might go Holy's way via decision though. If you are a fan of hard hitting cruisers, check out Rakhim Chakhkiev!!! The Olympic gold medallists hits a ton, and is tough as shoe leather. Chakhkeiv is bit like the Rock to be honest as he has sledgehammer body shots, and a lights out hook. He's a bit short for a modern heavy, but at Cruiser he's a genuine terror to anyone who lacks good foot speed.
I like Holyfield to beat him over 12, but 15 makes me less confident. He'd tire before Marciano and would take some heavy damage in those last 3 rounds. Still, he could well hold on to take a decision. Rocky batters Haye.
