Just a reminder this is a match up between two cruisers, separated by 9 pounds with Tua on the chubby side.

Marciano at this stage could be carrying more pure muscle mass.

So interesting to see these more power comments in favor of Tua.

    Style advantage my ass.

Would you seriously pick a bigger "contender only" version of any other great fighter over the great fighter himself?

    Tyrell Biggs over Ali?

At cruiserweight Rocky is stronger. Fat doesn't denote strength. Rocky has far more power than Tua. Who did Tua knock out that could hold the jockstrap of Charles, Walcott, Moore, or even Louis at the time? Him and Ibeabuchi threw the most punches in a heavyweight bout and Tua couldn't even knock him down. Speed is about even and holds little weight. At cruiserweight they are about the same size, Marciano is taller. Chin is the only thing I could see for Tua but again not much of a difference.

Tua is a glorified contender at best and couldn't last with the rock.

first of all who is talking with you cartoon? he was talking about prime 226 pounder tua, david never ever could have fought at cruiser, he was 19 when he weight 201 pounds and he was not fully developed at tha time, marciano weighed 178-190 pounds( 190 in 1-2 fights) and his prime weight was 185, he was not even a full sized cruiser, tua is stronger than him under circunstance, more powerful, faster and bigger with a better chin. period

Anybody can look strong against bums. Who's the best he knocked out? Ruiz, a bum who was a cruiserweight 2 years prior and went on to lose to a 2000 Holyfield? Rahman whose only claim to fame was knocking out a past it Lewis?

Tua knocked out an ex-champ and a future champ in less than a minute combined. Nobody had ever done anything comparable to either of these men. What are Marciano's most impressive very quick stoppages other than the Walcott farce?

So your saying Ruiz and Rahman are better than anyone on Marciano's resume? However thin Marciano's resume may be it ****s all over Tua's in terms of wins. On top of that I never said that Marciano had quick stoppages. Quick stoppages aren't the only thing compared when matching fighters h2h.

How are Marciano's wins over Walcott a farce? Walcott was a great fighter when Marciano stopped him.

So far in all of these Tua threads the argument has been that Tua was fast, power, and had quick stoppages. Tua was not fast and his power was good against contenders but didn't help him when it counted.

i don't know much about amateur boxing, or specifically anything about marciano's am opponents, i know tua had rounds with savon.

i can't really decide, marciano was more physically mature but i'm leaning towards tua catching a wild swinging rocky with something big.

Never said that Tua had a better resume than Marciano. The disagreement was about your claim that Marciano had much greater power than Tua. My point was that Tua knocked out two world champion level fighters in 30 seconds or less. As an indicator of power, that's far more revealing than scoring a late ko after beating on and pressuring an opponent for 9 or 10 rounds.

But that's saying that those fighters were better than anyone on Marciano's resume. Your refusle to name the fighters gives me the indication that you know they were trash regardless if they were world champion level. They were world champion level in that era but would have been contenders at best in others.

Tua destroyed two world champion level fighters, and by world champion level we mean Michael Moorer, former lineal World Champion no less than 8 years removed from a reign that ended in a knockout loss to a near 50 year old man, and over 4 years removed (including a 2 year retirement) from his last alpha title reign. And John Ruiz, a future alphabet titlist never regarded as a top man in the division.
