Marciano Vs Tyson.... Who would have triumphed

Interesting to note the 3 instances I can think of he was against mauling 220 plus found fighters in Wilson and Shkor and the strong physical Simmons. Maricano probably thought it better to come in heavier against bigger opponents he had to get ugly with...huh, who would have thought.

 

it's crazy, he looks as big there as he did against Tyson. Body weight is just a weird thing to figure out visually.

Certainly not "skin and bones" like Combat is going on about.

 

They maybe could be the same guys trying to give Holyfield and extra half of an inch to an inch in height.

 

What Marciano has over Tyson is work rate, and ability to apply sustained pressure over the course of a fight.

This could be a major advantage against some kinds of opponent, but I don't think that it would be a decisive factor here.

Marciano late knockout. Tyson's style was more effective against taller guys. Marciano's style was applicable to both. I see it as Marciano grinding Tyson down over a long fight. Tyson comes out strong as usual but Marciano takes control as the rounds go on.

 

Yes because Wilson who was stopped in the first round on a severely cut eye before the fight had really begun,who had lost his last fight to light heavyweight Danny Nardico and would lose 5 of his next 13 fights----
Shkor who had been ko'd in the 1st rd by Walcott in his previous fight and lost the one before that, who had won jut 9 of his last 23 fights,would retire after the Marciano fight for 4 years come back for one fight then retire again-----
Keene Simmons who was 8-8-1, had lost 4 of his last 5 fights,would lose14 of his next 23 fights,had an awe inspiring13% ko record and had Marciano in danger of being stopped on cuts------
These three are valid comparisons with a prime Tyson, and proof that Marciano could handle a quality prime hard hitting 220 pounder? .Good job Mongoose! It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

 

Tyson was too big , too strong and too fast for Rock. There is nothing Marciano could do to escape an early knock out loss.

Its like saying Frazier could beat Foreman or Patterson could beat Liston. Some fights are just all wrong for guys and Tyson would be Rockys kryptonite

If you aren't making threads about him then you make ones about fighters Tyson's fought knowing his name will be brought up. Now you make an alt to discuss Tyson back & forth with. Wow haha!

It's not that Rocky couldn't hurt Tyson. I think he could.

It's that Tyson seems faster, with more compact, accurate punches. I think Tyson's peekaboo was more effective against Marciano's "load up the power and bombs away" style than Marciano's crouch would have been against Tyson's flurries up close. And then you have the fact that Tyson was a minimum of 25lb heavier than The Rock ... I dunno man.

Marciano could win, but the deck is stacked against him.

I'd be cheering for him, but with the knowledge that he's got a hill to climb.

Now, if we're talking post prison Tyson, then I take Rocky, because that Tyson is not the tuned instrument that d'Amato sent out there, not by a long shot.

And as for making threads about tyson or guys he's fought?? I make threads about all heavy s. Liston, foreman, Jeffries dempsey, rock , Walcott. Mcvey and others will testify to that. Have they all fought tyson?
