Heart wont really matter considering the gap in skill, technique, and size. I just dont see rocky (who lacked defense and bleed easily) making it out of the early storm. He was dropped by an old light heavyweight and by a near 40 heavyweight under 200 lbs so he is definitely vulnerable to an early blitz. Everyone talks about tyson not getting up but you would need to hit him with about three dozen flush power punches and the kitchen sink just to get him to slow down in the first place. It took the huge lennox lewis 8 rounds of sledgehammer right crosses to ko a washed up tyson.

Yes because tyson would be looking in the mirror if he faced dempsey. Both were highly aggressive, come forward explosive fighters who were at their best in the first 4 rounds. Both had tons of power, a solid chin, and dynamite combinations. Both could slip and weave punches Dempseys hook might have been a little better but both had superb world class hooks and we all know what happens when two hook specialists fight (see morrison vs ruddock).

The difference? Dempsey had more heart, got off the floor to win some fights and could fight inside. It was relatively easy to tie tyson up, smother, or out in fight him if you knew what you were doing. Tysons advantage was his more bulky, muscular frame, weight, and more scientific approach and foundation in modern boxing.

So basically the uglier the fight gets and the more inside fighting, the better dempseys chances are. Tyson could brawl but he operated much better when following a game plan and keeping his punches short, sharp, and fluid. If neither man is dead after 4 rounds it would boil down to who can dictate the pace. Personally i think tyson could stop dempsey in 5 or 6 rounds in a thrilling war but i wouldnt be shocked if dempset landed some of his hellacious hooks and turned things around with his blinding, brutal combos.

Marciano would at least show up to the fight.

Ignore him... He's a cynical and miserable piece of **** who constantly accuses people of being racist for no good reason. He blocked me a couple of weeks ago, good riddance!

Stamina and heart maybe, but he gets blown out before they would be of any benefit to him.

Oddly the closet thing to Maricano Tyson has ever seen in the ring is Holyfield when he ducked low and used rough housing, clinching, and infighting.

This is the time of thing here we would have to see from the Rock. It doesn't require being faster than Tyson, bigger, or whatever. That sort of thing just played into Tyson's hands, bigger men trying to box from range, backing up, giving him room to operate. Marciano's approach of getting in the chest and smothering and pushing, might be worthy of consideration.

I think Rocky could push a man of Tyson's weight physically. Maricano pushed Joe Louis who weighed 213.

Dempsey v tyson? The expression fighting fire with fire comes tu mind. Every thing tyson does jack does better. If tyson hits after the break dempsey cracks him back , tyson bites his ears, Jack bites his nose off!! But seriously tyson would be complaining to the ref about dempsey s tactics before the first bell as rung. Jack came along in a time when u had to know every dirty tricks in the book. Dempsey constant aggression, wild hooks, low blows , snarling in your face attitude would demoralise tyson, he would find him self in a man made hurricane. And by the time it was over tyson would be a Bleeding battered mess..

I honesly cant see how Tyson loses this one. For me its the same scenario as if Tyson were to fight Frazier.

The only thing I would say Rock & Joe have over Tyson is better stamina but the fight would be over before that became a factor.

Im not one that believes size matters (in boxing...) but Tyson has something like 25-30lbs of lean muscle on Rocky, and I just couldnt see Rocky surviving the early assult.

What specifically does he have over Tyson?
    Power?
    Defence?
    Hand speed?
    Footspeed?
    Size?
    Chin?
    Boxing skills?
    Pick which.

The question asked is not who was greater, but who wins?

You have to put him there first.

Do you think Walcott or Moore drop Tyson?

I see the same result against Dempsey as against Marciano.

I'd give Jack a bit of a better chance early on, and a worse chance later than Marciano.
