I like Vitali here,as has been said he had a wonderful judgement of distance,he would be hitting Rocky well before he got into striking range, and in close he could smother the tiny Marciano.Vitali may not be the puncher his brother was,but I think he hit harder than Moore or Walcott.Vitali also had a great chin Marciano isn't budging him,and he has neither the size, or the skill set to out point him, imo.Mid to late rounds tko, with Rocky in a mess.

I can't see any way possible that Rocky wins this.
Vitali has an iron chin, he's not getting kod by Marciano, and Rocky's not gonna out point him.

Marciano's body work would be interesting if he would be able to cut the distance. Which seems unlikely.

Horrible matchup for Rocky. His best hope is Vitali getting DQ'd for hitting the back of his head as he crouches coming in.

When did Byrd "knock out" anyone in this discussion?

Here you have a guy who literally trained with the Klits saying Marciano would beat them. But people on here will laugh it off. This thread has been done many times btw

Oh, yes, I forget that time when Vitali was lights out on the floor, fully concussed from the punching power of Chris Byrd.

AS YOU KNOW, Seamus, there are technical knockouts in the sport of boxing. And I highly doubt you can come up with many expressly more technical knockouts in the sport's heavyweight history. But it would amuse me if you amassed a list for the purposes of this particular social interaction.

He got an injured shoulder. It was a fluke.

Far more relevant to this discussion would be Marciano's nose flayed in two and a ref who allowed Marciano to continue with the injury when many, even in that era, would not have. Certainly, if his nose had been ripped in two during Vitali's era, that fight would have been stopped. And that injury was no fluke.

So, if you are going to rely on Marciano winning by Vitali having a once in a career fluke injury you have already lost his argument.
