Marciano - Would You Give Any Fighter...

Bowe couldn't even convincingly beat Coetzer until he started fouling him. An extremely over-rated fighter.

 

At HW? Most certainly, I don't think that needs much explaining.

At CW, I think Holyfield probably. I'd even say someone like a prime Ezzard Charles and perhaps at around 185, Floyd Patterson. And as I've always said, I would take Roy Jones over 12 based on styles. Gene Tunney stands a chance as well.

Of the guys Imentioned, only Holyfield I would favor as strongly as Russell mentioned though. Plenty of HW's though, such as Ali, Lewis, Holmes, Liston, Foreman, Tyson, Holyfield, and perhaps Frazier. Perhaps Dempsey as well, I think I'd favor him.

 

I'd pick:

Liston, Ali, Foreman, Tyson, Lewis as clear favorites.

Louis, Holyfield, Holmes, W. Klitschko, V. Klitschko, Bowe as slight favorites.

Frazier, Dempsey, Walcott, Charles, Jeffries, Johnson are 50/50.

Everyone else is an underdog.

 

Not really too many. Foreman basically although he could be beaten as well. Liston and Ali could have good shots as well.

This is the way I look at these time capsule fights too. Marciano if 30 years old today would be about 6'1" or 6'2" and weigh about 220 lbs. I don't know why so many people do not accept this premise, or that if today's fighters went back to the 50's they'd be lighter and shorter. If we are going to talk about hypothetical situations, why not at least make them realistic.

 

Louis, Liston, Frazier, Foreman, Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Bowe, Holyfield, Lewis, V Klitschko, W Klitschko, Superman, Aquaman (if they had a rematch)

 

Looks like the Marciano critics are having fun. Watch his championship fights again carefully, a few times each. Dude was a freakin animal and there was true method to his madness.

 

You ant going to add the Spinks brothers? Braddock?? Briggs to beat the Rock.

 

I got to laugh at some of these posts, Bowe would get battered by Rocky and do what Golota fouled up, Liston,Foreman,Ali, lets not forget 179lb Marty Marshall who broke listons jaw and dropped him, Coopers hook that dropped Ali, and Lyle almost had Foreman out of there, do you guys really think Marciano of all people would just walk in there and just be hit and not hit back, Walcotts hook was as hard as any hook I have seen it was classic but Rocky bounced up at 2, same with the Moore KD and Marciano dominated Archie and did the same to every other fighter that he fought 2 times, look at the 1st fight and combine the 2nd, Charles,Lastarza,Walcott and see who was a master at rematches only Louis and Marciano. I dont think anyone would want to fight him 10 times let alone 2-3...fighting Marciano 2 times was an extremly painfull experience.

 

Yeah Archie and Walcott's punches on Rocky was just amazing but all the punches on the other guys were just crap - and i notice you don't include the dumpings of Joe Louis either?

 

Liston and Foreman are nothing compared to Rocky. Liston would be lucky to land a shot and there's fat chance that Foreman would land a shot that's more effective than what the old Mongoose or Walcott landed. They are so overrated compared to the old 50s fighters that Rocky fought. Yeah i too laugh at some of these posts
