This is astounding in its agreement with ignorance and its done purely to seek an ally.I think this is a shameful post.

The fight was a disgrace for a number of reasons.Cockell had no business being there and he was fouled multiple times without so much as a warning to Marciano. The referee was an absolute ****!

And like I said this is based on the tactics Rocky used. He used swarming, quantity over Quality tactics especially for Archie so of course others may have hit him harder. What is your explanation as to how come Moore was decked so many times by Marciano?

and what exactly does the crushing knockout of kid Mathews epitomise? Or the one punch Rex Layne finisher epitomise? Or any number of one punch knockouts Rocky produced? How can this be B.S or “spin” if it happened?

landing hard blows late in a fight is a bonus. I cannot think how this could be a negative. Do you think hitting hard later on is a negative?

This does not stand up. Cokkell was the world number Two. You can’t keep repeating this. The number Two always deserves to be in a ring with the champion.

If you insist I am too biased to be taken seriously then read up some of the fine work @edward morbius produced in correcting others on this matter. Don was as qualified as anybody ever was to challenge for the title.

Moore stated Marciano just wore him down.
Moore was 39/40 years old and his chin wasn't stellar when he was prime. What Marciano accomplished had been done before and quicker when Moore was nearer his prime.A year after the Marciano fight, Patterson wrecked him with ease
You really need to study fights.Layne was defensively lax and had a soft belly ,something Goldman had noticed when he seconded Cesar Brion, Rocky's stable mate against Layne.Charlie's instructions were pound the body, soften him up and that is exactly what Rocky did,he literally punched all the resistance out of Layne before applying the finisher. To call it a one punch ko is misleading because it ignores the hellacious beating he gave Layne to the belly to enable him to get the cruncher across. The same thing applies to the Walcott first fight ,Jersey Joe began to go back to the ropes to save his legs and though still in front he was shipping increasingly significant punishment as the rounds wore on. Who suggested landing hard punches late in a fight is a negative? Were do you get these tangents from!
Mathews epitomises a hype job being brought face to face with reality! His own manager did not expect him to win.

Go take a look at the credentials of those one round jobs, the first victim weighed 175lbs!

He beat fighters that made him the world number Two. And that’s why he was the world number Two.

He got the chance because he beat Lastarza who was ****ed up after Rocky put him through the wringer and he beat Mathews who was **** all to start with! I repeat Cockell never beat a great fighter.
