Marciano's Body Frame could easily be Tua and Tyson

It doesn't, and I never said it did. It means he could weigh less.

I know what is meant but I'm not sure it exists.
The idea that Joe Louis reigned for 11 years as champion, and was a contender a few years either side of that reign, and yet can be said to have "never fought at the highest level" should give any reasonable tinking person here pause to question it, and consider the possibility that it is bullsh!t.

People can consider what they like; if one identifies the two or three very best heavies that Louis met, then can identify some heavies that they believe to be clearly better than those fighters (however small the margin), that person believes, whether they want to impart it in this way or not, that there is a level above the opposition that Louis faced.

    That's most people.

How long he reigned doesn't matter at all.

SuzieQ or whatever the persons name who made this stupid thread should be banned for being a idiot. If Marciano could fight at 220 pounds and be effective he would of. There were 220 plus fighters back in the day. You people act like you had to way under 190 to fight at heavyweight.

Marciano weighed 185 pounds because that is was his weight. He could try to bulk up if he was alive today but any half way decent heavyweight would put him to bed in 1 round tops.

I think it is inherently obvious to anyone that the peak version of Rocky exists at 190 pounds.

It is also clear he would be able to weigh 175 24 hours before fighting and it is also clear he would be able to weigh 220 pounds 24 hours before fighting.

It's all about the sacrifices he would make and the benefit he would get.

I think he certainly beats almost any fighter in history coming in below 200 pounds on fight night.

I also don't think he would have a full career at HW today due to the strain he'd put his body under getting heavier, although Chris Byrd did do exactly that so it's hard to say.

But I certainly think for a small handful of fights he could bulk up, be quicker and more relentless than most of the bigger HW fighters that exist todays.

I won't even entertain the idea of Rocky weighing 190 pounds at HW today, a fantasy fight pitting 190 Rocky v 240 Joshua isn't something that interests me because I feel it flies in the face of history.

    Here's the top then today.

    1 Alexander Povetkin 30-1-0 (22) RUS 1
    2 Luis Ortiz 25-0-0 (21) CUB 2
    3 Deontay Wilder 36-0-0 (35) USA 3
    4 Anthony Joshua 17-0-0 (17) ENG 4
    5 Joseph Parker 21-0-0 (18) NZ 5
    6 Kubrat Pulev 24-1-0 (13) BUL 6
    7 Bermane Stiverne 24-2-1 (21) CAN 7
    8 Carlos Takam 33-3-1 (24) CMR 8
    9 Johann Duhaupas 34-3-0 (21) FRA 9
    10 Eric Molina 25-3-0 (19) USA 10

I would favour Rocky against Povetkin.
I would favour Ortiz over Rocky.
I would favour Wilder over Rocky.
I would favour Joshua over Rocky.
I would favour Parker over Rocky.
I would favor Rocky over Pulev.
I would favour Rocky over Stiverne.
I would favour Rocky over Takam.
I would favour Rocky over Duhaupas.
I would favour Rocky over Molina.

This isn't in terms of a career, its more in terms of the idea of Rocky being a CW and moving up for the last two fights of his career or something of that ilk. Of those i favour over Rocky all are quicker than him apart from Ortiz. Ortiz is a monster up close though and I don't see how Rocky can eat his uppercuts.

If he was to get to Tua type weight I'd imagine it's after the tail of his career. When hes already cleared up CW. Hed probably have to have a year or so of tune ups first to get used to the weight but I could easily see him beating Molina, Pulev and Povetkin. How are any of those Gina Compete with him up close and none of those have the ability to keep him at range. Pulev has a beast of a jab but we all saw him bottle it on the big stage.

Good point. Tua looks a bit out if shape but Tyson looks ripped. Could imagine Rocky bulking well and looking ripped like Tyson or bulking poorly and looking fat like Tua.

Anyone can add 30 pounds though but not everyone can carry it as well as Tyson did.

I think he could in theory. They are all no doubt broad guys for their stature. I don't buy this whole "bone structure" business. Nobody here is an X-Ray tech that I know of.

Adding muscle mass and increasing his carb intake might actually improve his stamina and speed, it happens. I honestly think Holyfield's most athletic performance was at 217 in Bowe II. Quickest he looked, easily.

Yes, I do believe Rocky would primarily terrorize the LHW and Cruiser division if he turned pro today. It's just logical that him and his team would want to match him against fighters more his size. He's going to always concede reach or some height, but the point would be to minimize that as much as possible while not giving up that much weight.

I think he could bulk up and probably beat anyone in the top 10 today but not consistently. There is money at HW, but I can't see any reason why him and his team would want to concede every physical advantage in every fight by significant amounts for years on end. Giving up 5-9 inches in height and even at 220, like 20 pounds plus..,that would be taxing as hell.

Seriously, if Tyson turned Pro today, I would think even he would have doubts about giving up that kind of physical advantage very fight out. When Tyson turned Pro in the 80s, he was in the medium weight range, he was usually slightly heavier or the same weight as his opponents, or no more than 10 pounds lighter. Tyson might consider going in at 230, which is pretty heavy for his height and likely would see some negative effects on his stamina and speed, but that would be preferable to being wrestled, pushed, and thrown around every fight by a guy over 20 pounds heavier.

I feel the same. On his day Rocky could pull it out of the bag against anyone, I mean Haye had a reputation as one of the hardest hitting heavyweights of recent times and Bellew took his power well enough, but to do it consistently over a career is asking for trouble.

This is disingenuous. You can tell someone's bone structure by their appearance. It is done all the time in other sports. Can you tell if one athlete is taller than another? That is one dimension of bone structure. It is patently obvious that Tua and Tyson were structurally larger than Marciano.

If we are going by height, Rocky is taller than Tua and Tyson.

In terms of bone density, no, its not easy to tell given what we have to go on with these three.

Tua is upwards of 50 pounds heavier, of course he looks larger framed. Weight effects everything. And just being heavier is not an indication of having magically denser bones.
