Marciano's Body Frame could easily be Tua and Tyson

So Marciano coulda been fighting 3 stone above his fighting weight nowadays. 230 pounds haha I haven't heard such a crock a **** in my life. I suppose Frazier woulda been fighting at 240 instead of 205 in the 60s only a decade after Marciano? Marciano woulda done bettter at his REAL fighting weight whether he was fighting a 230 pound fighter.

Someone needs to be honest here.

Marciano would be beyond stubby and ponderous at 205. He would be hideous at 240. The guy was just not that big proportionately. However, he was INCREDIBLE at his own, real size. Why can some people simply not accept this?

evidence does not support this. marciano was naturally well above 205lb and he weighed in some of his fights over 190lb. imagine what hed be with modern weight training and nutrition

you need to be realistic. Marciano had the bone structure of a heavyweight

Then you would never beleive James Toney who is 5"9 , who fought at 160 and was fairly successful at 175, more successfull at cruiser has been very successful at 230 + and at the advanced age of 38....no absolutly if Marciano was fighting with a little weight training he would be able to weigh 225 and still be cut. Toney should be 220 at the most, he does not even have the legs or shoulders that the Rock had.
I have a friend who is an expert at muscle gain and he said that Rocky had the frame and the heavy bones...the weight may make him a bit stronger for pushing but he did not see how it would help him with power (you either have it or you dont) but with todays 12 rds instead of 15...Marciano could still fight at a more torid pace than most of todays fatso's

He was incredible at his size and for the 15 rd route...one of the best but with todays shorter fights and different methods of training it would be easy for Rocky to gain muscle on his heavy bones...his look would be more muscled and cut..how more effective he would be? but we saw Evander gain and we saw Toney gain 55-to 75 lbs on his 5"9 frame and be competitve vs the Big boys at an advanced age

I too have seen pictures of Marciano after his career, stubby and ponderous looking at over 200 pounds.

The bone structure of a heavyweight, at least in today's era, precludes 5-10 guys with extremely short arms and legs, narrow and sloped shoulders. And more to the point, Tua and Tyson- at least in their formative years- were not the beneficiaries of modern nutrition or significant weight training. They were both huge as young teens.

Again, I am taking nothing away from one of the greatest fighting machines the ring has ever held. Marciano was an absolute monster at 185.

Hegrant, toney was a fat pig at 240llb but Toney looked pretty good fighting holyfield at 217lb.

Seamus I see your point, and I respect your opinion. I guess we our opinions vary, but at least we both acknowledge rock was one of the best 185lbers ever

Rocky could have put on weight, sure.

But he did not have a frame the size of Tyson or Tua. It's painfully obvious in the pictures you posted. I don't know how those were supposed to support your argument when they flat out disprove it. Are you viewing them through some kind of distorted lens?

Tyson has always looked like that. It was not the result of "modern training, nutrition, blah, blah". Look at young pictures of him. Tyson weighed 200 pounds when he was 13. He has a 19 3/4 inch neck. And don't you realize Tyson's fighting weight of ~217 was also a very cut down version of him? Tyson's walk-around weight was 240+. He fought Lewis at 235. It's well known that Tyson didn't use much if any weight training until prison. Once again, Tyson was not bulked up to 217, he was trimmed way down.

Excellent point Jaws ... Tyson at 217 was as lean as Marciano at 185 ...

As you say Tyson walean at 215 and did not use weights to get there.

I do think however that Marcianos training regime was a lot more stamina intensive and likley to result in a low body weight on fight night.

I suspect that on Tysons early regime he would have come in about 10 lbs heavier at say 195 or there abouts.

Incidentaly John L Sullivan came in about 10 lbs lighter for fights that were not time limited but was still in shape when he was 10 lbs heavier for time limited fights. This probably reflects the diferent training methods he used for longer fights.
