LaMotta's chin really is the cream of the crop.

I feel Lamotta's chin was better then Marciano's. Fairly clearly.

Both Marciano and Chuvalo had stellar chins, but I'd rank George Chuvalo ahead of both.

Agreed. Chuvalo's chin just wasn't quite as good as Chuvalo's.

Rock only was knocked down by moore because he was off balance......there is a picture that proves it. anyone got it?

btw, moore rated # 4 on ring magazines greatest punchers list of all time, walcott rated # 66 so its clear it took big punchers to take rocky off his feet, only if for FLASH knockdowns. 215lb Joe Louis, rated # 1 on ring magazine punchers of all time list could not floor him despite landing a couple heavy hooks, and Rex Layne a young hard puncher couldnt even move marciano. has anyone ever seen marciano stunned/wobbled on film? I have not other than a louis left hook at the end of round 1 that froze him for a couple seconds.

as for questioning moores power vs heavyweights, his record against heavyweights over 200lb is 22-1 with NINETEEN KNOCKOUTS!!

That said, Jake Lamotta had the best chin in boxing history, no one could even come close to stunning him near his prime no matter how hard they hit

Both had excellent chins, Marciano was hit flush by 2 of boxings big pinpoint punchers but he was off balance vs Moore and really knocked down by the force of Walcotts blow, got right up and kept coming and was never really hurt in a fight. Jake had a great chin but decent defence when he wanted, Chuvalo had a good chin but was to easy to hit causing RSC ...Tex Cobb had a good chin but hit too easy also....guys like that eventually just get KO'd...brain can only take so much

Marciano was down twice, true, but everyone seems to forget that Chuvalo himself was down twice against Bonavena. He wasn't really hurt, but neither was Rocky.

They weren't called as official knockdowns though.

So for that reason some doubt must remain over there legality and they can't really be counted against Chuvalo.

I've not seen that fight personally but I have seen Chuvalo eat up an absolute monster hook from George Foreman and scarcely wobble. His chin was beyond compare @ Heavyweight imo.

He wasn't beyond compare. McCall was never down, Chuvalo was. They weren't ruled official knockdowns, but if you watch the film, it's clear Bonavena lands a short, hard punch and Chuvalo goes down.
