    By the time he reached Liston, he'd be too old and would get dominated. He retired at the right time. Patterson might have a chance too, he could certainly bang and had the speed to land repeatedly on Rocky.

    I think that the biggest money out there for LH champ patterson in 59 would be old balding Rocky who would be slowing down. I think marciano would look awful struggling against pastrano and 23 year old floyd would maybe look a good favorite?

    perhaps. I just think those who create the biggest ball park type event stand more chance of geting a crack at post 1955 rocky, that rules out folley and machen rightly or wrongly. ingo made a big splash and patterson (with a title) and liston were bigger draws by comparison to machen, jackson,pastrano, baker, valdes and folley. maybe thats why rocky stayed away?
