Marciano's Largest opponent (Ht & wt)?

I'm not sure I think Humphrey Jackson was 254 pounds and I think Johnny Skhor was 6' 4 220 pounds maybe? So JJ Walcott or Louis wasn't the biggest Nino wouldn't have been either.

No, while there is a difference you have to take into account Rocky wasn't a world of experience when he fought them. He and Jackson only had seven fights when they fought. Skhor was a vet with 50 fights before fighting with Marciano who only had 29. So while they weren't champions or even world class Rocky wasn't either when he fought them.

 

This is the classic "Ed Dunkhorst Syndrome"... i.e. if an undersized fighter beats any fighter of great size, no matter the quality of fighter, he ergo defeats quality fighters of great size.

And let's not overlook that Marciano beat Skhor in what was essentially his last pro bout. Skhor wasn't a "vet". He was washed up.

The less said about Jackson the better. He never beat a winning fighter. He had 5 fights as a pro and had found a way to be KO'd by a guy with 2 fights.

These performances aren't exactly ****ogous to beating a Klitschko... or even a Jordan Keepers. But if it's what gets you through the night, more power to you.

Who are you to say they can't if Marciano can beat men larger than him. One who had the same experience level as him at that time. Another who was a vet whether you like it or not. Why couldn't he of had success with big boys at world class when he himself was at world level. Also, no one has said anything of Rocky beating a modern SHW based off these wins.

A vet is someone with experience and been in the game awhile doesn't matter if there losing at that time. Shkor had plenty of experience over Marciano.

Again, no one here as said Rocky beats either of those guys you mentioned. All that's been said the did beat bigger men which is fact. No more no less and I for one could care less if he could or couldn't beat a Klitschko or whoever Jordan Keepers is.

He fought an old Louis who by then was a big HW.

He fought an old Shkor who was a SHW.

Old Louis was ranked number 1.

Shkor had previously been top ten ranked.

He has proven he can beat a fringe contending SHW. Anything after that depends on what leap of faith you're willing to take.

 

Joe Louis was 6'2 and 213 pounds.
He was a shell of his former self but he was still a world class fighter.

 

You can tell the very inexperienced posters by their over reliance of size, weight, reach vs KNOWING HOW TO FIGHT. In their mind as soon as an opponent has a reach advantage the smaller opponent can't reach them. That in of itself says it all.

 

People here seem to imagine that a 5'10 fighter is half the height of a 6'9 fighter.
