You only had to worry about one punch fighting Frazier. With Marciano either hand could put you to sleep. Comparing speed is impossible just looking at their fights. Joe had notoriously slow feet....Frazier said so himself .....but quick hands. Joe always was caught bobbing avoiding punches but not moving his legs so follow up shots would catch him. Rocky had a very under appreciated defense. His back was like hydraulics constantly bobbing very low under opponents guard and punches, giving angles, parrying, blocking and then coming back with counters. Rocky had more eggs in his basket both in terms of defense and offense as compared to Joe.
Mm, I disagree with a lot of what you claim here.Like Frazier's right hand not being a factor.. well, that's a myth. Frazier used right hands very successfully vs Quarry, Ellis, and Ali. It may have not been the knockout blow and he wasn't always effective with it, it was still good for setting up his left. Furthermore, Frazier had slow feet, there would have been no way in hell he would have caught up to Ali. Ali's movement would have been way too much, if that were the case. Frazier was good at cutting the ring off and being the aggressor. Not as sluggish and slow as Rocky was. In terms of dealing with larger opponents, I'd actually argue that Joe was better. He imo fought better fighters, guys in their prime, undefeated fighters, and proved his power at a higher level. Hey Rez. Good seeing you back on YT and here. I'm sure you remember me. That prime Ali highlight video is class :good I remember years ago, I use to believe that Rocky Marciano at 188 pounds, would KO Klitschko and Lewis and Bowe etc. but I just can't envision that anymore. in my opinion when it comes to rocky vs Klitschkos, Lewis & Bowe, it's not just a matter of size. Those guys all have tools and power that Rocky has frankly never tasted. How the hell does Rocky get inside the jab of either Klitschko, and when he does what exactly does he do when he's inside except get tied up and leaned on? With Bowe he gets outgunned on the inside against a much larger fighter, a guy who also has a very educated jab and throws very quick combos up close. With Lewis I see a brutal slaughter.
Hey Tommy! Good to see you around as well Rocky could crouch under the jab, get inside, and throw short power shots to the body. Theres no way the Klitschkos can tag Rocky without leaving themselves open, and thats Rockys opportunity. Also the Klitschkos need to worry about more than just landing the jab. They would need to do it consistently for 12 rounds, against a guy who doesn't stop coming with haymakers. A guy who can take a punch, and who doesn't stop throwing. A mauler, and a brawler.
I could be wrong, but I don't think Rockys ever been shaken up. He's been flash knocked down, but I can't recall him stumbling to the ropes, looking dizzy, or anything like that. Louis has, Ali has, Dempsey has, but I've never seen Rocky in a position where he looks vulnerable to a KO. The man was a machine.
Rocky was definitely able to do that to the fighters that he fought. But take a hard look at his resume. There aren't really any super heavyweights on there. There isn't even a prime Patterson. There's no prime very good fighters on there. There's old ATGs, old light heavyweights and a few contenders. None of this **** matters much, it's all hypothetical at the end of the day, but It's fun to speculate. I actually do think either Klitschko would be able to utilize their reach and be able to keep Rocky at range, Vitali with his awkwardness and his jab, Wlad with his brutal straight jabs and right hands and clinching. Rocky would have to absorb ridiculous punishment coming forward and I seriously doubt he would be able to pull it off. Who knows if Rocky would be able to take the Klitschko's best shots, same with Lewis and Bowe for that matter.
