Anthony Joshua does tons of pull ups. Here he says he does 30 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/thinking-man/anthony-joshua-i-used-to-get-chased-by-the-police-for-fighting-n/ In a cardio-based sport the amount of pull ups you can do is a much better measure of strength in the ring then what you bench, squat, or deadlift. Over 12 or 15 rds the 185 lbr who can do 30 pull ups is going to have more strength than the big 245 lbr who can barely do 10 when the bell rings for the 8th rd. The point was you were discrediting Marciano's 30 pull ups as if it wasn't an impressive feat of strength. Don't know any 185 lbrs who could do 30 in a row. Ever watched strength wars? Even the calisthenics guys on there can't do 30 pull ups.
I simply gave an explanation why it's easier for Marciano than it would be for a much bigger man. Fact is, he has an easier time doing pull ups thanks to his smaller size and shorter arms. And brute strength/power can equalize a stamina advantage. Just like how Tyson Fury thrashed Cunningham and wore him down with constant fouling and roughhousing. Just like how Wlad uses his ****** strength to sap his opponents from their strength.
Wlad's opponents don't have good stamina and are hopelessly over-matched. Strength, no matter what words you use with it like power and brute, will never make up for bad stamina. Foreman had strength and power over Ali but Ali's chin and stamina led him to prevail. Boxing is a cardio-based sport. Not a test of raw strength. Agility beats strength alone. We have seen it all of the time.
Judging how well Ali pulled Foreman's head I doubt Foreman had a strength advantage. And Ali was outboxing him already before Foreman gassed badly.
Ali was stronger than Foreman? Ok bud. Ali was more agile than Foreman who clearly was stronger. Make a poll and let the forum decide if you think I'm wrong.
Foreman was absolutely unable to get himself free everytime Ali clinched him. His strength wasn't greater than Ali's
I read that a friend of Marcianos was surprised about his great punching power because he could not throw a baseball especially hard. Must have been somthing about the thowing motion that did not quite work for him.
Marciano's arms are pretty short. The longer the lever, the more speed at the terminus. That's why. Very often you get these stringbean types in boxing that have long arms and don't seem like they should be able to punch worth a lick. Like Tommy Hearns. They can bang, alright, because of the terminal speed of their shots.
