Than an old Moore and a small Layne? Yes
I never mentioned Louis, I know he was shot
Walcott was absolutely fine IMO, terrific condition and performed beautifully, the eye test doesn't lie.
Moore reigned as the light heavyweight champ for the next 5 years and also beat and knocked out many Heavyweights (including 200+lbs men) before and after his fight with Marciano. Whether he was slightly past it or not isn't the matter, he was still objectively a terrific fighter and puncher
Some fighters age better than others. Look at Hopkins and Fitzsimmons
You have the cheek to say those were shot and yet bring up the Tyson win, what a prized *****......
People who equate Marciano, as an athlete, with the breed that came along in the 80's and beyond are participating in grandest form of self-delusion, for reasons I care not to ponder. Where is this slow, off balance, 70" reach, 188 pound power puncher today?
There is a reason that when we see fighters with Marciano's attributes make it anywhere near the top, their names are Kenny Keene.
Go ask a pro trainer. Manny Steward dropped bull**** and said it frankly, Marciano was just too small to compete with today's heavies.
Now, if you want to sell me that Marciano was a great pound for pound fighter, that he woul make a great cruiser (albeit with a short career) I'm much more receptive.
6'1" 195lbs 75" reach is now considered "small"? That was literally the size of the average heavyweight before the Cruiserweight division was made
That's fair enough, but it doesn't change my stance on Marciano's power, I don't think he is as hard hitting as Lewis. And if I made a list I think he might not even make the top 10.
Bigger than Marciano as well......
Yes. Layne would've been pulverised by Lewis
I repeat, Lewis would've pulverised him
And Lewis was 6'5, Bruno was 6'3, Morrison was 6'2 and all of them weighed alot more
Ahem, I'll repeat this........
BEFORE THE CRUISERWEIGHT DIVISION WAS MADE
It's funny how you consider a post Bentt Morrison better than Layne just because he's a shade bigger
I found it funny when Layne would lean on Marciano just to have Marciano dig at his body and bull him to the ropes
Freak of nature, I tell ya
Doesn't matter when he was bigger, he was bigger. If Morrison wasn't better (and I admit you have me there) Bruno was, as was Ruddock, As was Vitali.
