    This.

Probably the hardest sub-200lb puncher in the sport.

But I think Lennox, Wlad, Foreman, maybe even Wilder all punch ed harder.

    And some others too.

Holyfield aleady looked old against Moorer in 1994, was stopped in 8 rounds by Bowe in 1995.
Lewis fought him 24 rounds in 1999 and didn't even knock him down.
John Ruiz had Holyfield in far more trouble a couple of fights later.

Joe Louis was a good boxer, even though old and hell in 1951, he's not some easy mark big lump like Michael Grant wide open to be knocked out in a round or two.
Be serious for once. Lewis would box him, yes very possibly stop him, but he'd not just going to crush him in a round or two.

Holyfield in 1999 wasn't much better than 1951 Louis, if at all.
In fact, he's be on the decline for 5 or 6 years at least and was coming off a dull and dreary 12 round decision over no-entity Vaughn Bean in 1998, and followed the Lewis fights with a 1-1-1 trilogy against John Ruiz, an ordinary heavyweight.

Then went downhill from there with several more losses and no meaningful wins (except a 2008 "robbed" performance against Valuev, where they both looked absolutely dreadful ....)

    These are the facts.

1951 Joe Louis was no great shakes either but people like to hammer that point home, it seems, to simply discredit Marciano.

If I were to critique every fighter’s resume to that degree than basically nobody has a good resume. I could just as easily do the same with Lennox’s resume or for that matter any other past great fighter’s resume.

Tony Tucker in the 90’s wasn’t half the fighter he was in the mid 80’s, Ruddock was damaged goods when he fought Lennox after his two wars with Tyson, and Tommy Morrison wasn’t the same after being knocked out by Bent. McCall was also having legal problems and coming off a drug binge when he lost to Lewis.

Also, I seem to recall Lennox avoiding Byrd to go on to fight Kirk Johnson, who was eventually replaced by Vitali. Stylistically Johnson and Vitali were much easier matchups for Lennox than Byrd was.

If Charles is a middleweight, then Holyfield is a light-heavyweight ...
... which raises the question :
how on earth did Lennox Lewis not manage to even knock-down a 36/37 year old LHW in 24 rounds of boxing ??

Yes, the Holyfield that Lewis beat 2* was better than the Louis that Marciano beat

Also Holyfield had a better chin than Louis and is naturally bigger.

Holyfield in 1999 was definitely better than Louis was in 51. He was clearly quicker for one and had a better chin for 2. Also he had a smarter defense. I'm very confident that Holyfield of 1999 would KO Louis of 51

Lastarza wasn't fast.A 39/40 years old Moore would not go 9 rounds with Lewis imo.

Lmao he’s def not answering this question. Or he will just say he weighed more as if other great fighters couldn’t pack on some weight with the help of hgh and modern training

If you want to critique résumé, we'd get alot further criticizing Marciano's than you'd with Lewis
Boths wins are against past prime opponents, but Lewis's are at least against past prime HWs

Holyfield def wasn’t “naturally” bigger. But he was prob slightly better then the old Louis who was on an 8 fight win streak

    That’s your argument? Lol

Ali lost to Norton 5 years younger.
And won a controversial decision 5 years later.
Lewis lost to Rahman around 35.

    Holyfield better than both?

I know he wasn't much bigger but he would still have been a harder fight for Lewis imo. Louis was on an 8 fight win streak against mediocre opposition compared to who Holyfield was fighting
