which was more devastating. i heard that the straight right or left depending on your stance is the hardest punch a fighter can throw, if that's the case then earnie shaver's straight right was the hardest punch ever thrown. what do you guys think?
Haha the suzie q of marciano is overrated like hell... The punch that he landed over walcott is overrated like hell, i can tell you about more tan 20 guys that could ice walcott with a single shot.tons of bigger hws did hit harder. Joe frazier's left hook was harder than rocky's right
I'm going with arguably the best conditioned boxer ever - Rocky. He throws everything so often thats its more likely to land. Shaver has that dull truck like power but its no where near as frequent as the leather Rocky throws.
Bert Sugar said Rocky was the hardest puncher ''in the history of the sport''. Baer and Foreman are right up there too.
As powerful a puncher as Earnie Shavers was, I never saw him utterly destroy, for a count of 10+, as in a knockout, an opponent like Marciano did vs JJW when he won the title. That right hand of Rocky's, on that night in 1952 was a one of a kind, 1 punch demolition in the annals of boxing history.
Fair enough but that was a punch landed after 12 rds of bruising battle on a man of 37.. Shavers tended to get you early or run out of gas. Do you think Walcott would have weathered the right hand that Holmes was floored by and got up from? The right that destroyed Ellis?
