Based on the fact he was down and stunned by much smaller weaker punchers. Regardless Ali doesnt ship as many shots as Liston Hey maybe Calzaghe beats Liston and has a better chin than Ali too, I mean Calzaghe wasnt knocked out fighting similarly sized men to the 1s Marciano was facing
Getting dropped or stunned by Walcott or Moore is nothing. Any fighter in history could have been dropped or stunned by either. I don't even care. Both of these guys could drop anyone. Not relevant. Master counter-punchers and all that that means.
Beyond not relevant. Walcott was one the greatest counter punchers in the history of the division. Moore put 213 professional fighters to sleep (or at very least unable to continue)...
Preposterous, are you suggesting Moore somehow had lighter hands by the time of the Marciano fight? Archie Moore stops the very durable 6'2" 209 lb Bob Baker. One of only two stoppage losses in a very long career against all comers. This content is protected :rofl Get the **** out of here
If he beats that crew, he possibly surpassed Louis. But then, Liston wouldn't have been as feared or respected without his demolishment of Patterson. Say Rocky retired and came back, then he would indeed be esteemed as a HW ranked anywhere from 1-3 I think.
Marciano was caught off guard by the Walcott one. The Moore one he didn't see and actually hurt him more. I think Rocky's punch resistance was beater in 51 than 55, marginally and hard to even determine but it's a theory. Walcott can be percieved as a flash knockdown. Marciano said "The shot didn't hurt me at all." Rocky got up right away and went in the trenches and took shots for the rest of the round. He was tough, definitely shook up. But what a punch Walcott landed on him. Idiots like Bert Sugar talk about the chance that Walcott gave up from knocking Marciano out by celebrating as if he won. Walcott knew he hit him perfectly with such a great punch if he did celebrate, but Rocky was no where near as hurt as some like Bert Sugar believe. At least that's what he said...
Archie Moore KO'd some quality Big guys and was on his best win streak 50 fights in a row entering the Marciano fight and the one loss was a controversial loss to Harold Johnson that he avenged with a 14th rd KO
Sorry to naysayers but Archie Moore hit like a ton of bricks... for any division. That is as basic a fact of boxing as exists.
Marciano had an amazing chin and recooperative powers as proven in Walcott 1 ... I just feel it would be too much for him to tackle Sonny, more than anything because I dont see his skin holding up ... the huge reach difference would be too much and he'd have to come right into the power ...
Yet Archie didnt hit half as hard as Liston, because he was a 175lber ex MW and much weaker, get your head out your own ass
