    I have it differently.

Marco Antonio Barrera/Erik Morales/Juan Manuel Marquez.

    I respect your opinion though.

I've been told Arcane is Popkins. This is all so confusing.

Absolutely not. At no point was Barrera ever the victim of an ass-kicking at the hands of Erik Morales or Juan Manuel Marquez. If you like, we could both re-score the fights and then settle on a definition?

As a side note, it's not good for your credibility if you agree with any of GTSK's posts.

    Arcane is Arcane. Move on.

You just rated Erik Morales above Marco Antonio Barrera. We certainly aren't the same person. :yep

I guess it's inconceivable to these guys that three sane posters could be posting on the General Forum. They surely have to be alts.

They are all so close to each other ATG wise, that it is an honor wherever they are placed...

When all is said and done, we should have a better understanding of where they rank.

    But Currently IMO Morales/Marquez/Barrera

not only Resume is considered but Performances against top level opposition, skills, and resume.

Indeed, and I think Barrera was just as consistant if not more so when fighting top level competition.

In addition to his two admirable performances against Manny Pacquiao, Marquez was also responsible for losing against Freddie Norwood and Chris John. This can be compared with Barrera's losses to Jones, who was actually a more impressive fighter than the aforementioned two, in my opinion. Alternatively, Barrera beat Morales on two seperate occasions, and also beat quality operators in Naseem Hamed and Kennedy Mckinney.

In terms of skill, I see no disparity between JMM and Barrera. Let's compare the two fighters top five victories.

MAB - Erik Morales (02), Erik Morales (04), Naseem Hamed, Kennedy Mckinney, Johnny Tapia

JMM - Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Diaz, Manuel Medina, Robbie Peden, Derrick Gainer

Indeed, all things considered, I hold Barrera in higher regard. That could all change depending on how JMM's third encounter with Pacquiao pans out.

Marco Antonio Barrera is the reason I became a boxing fan. He is my favorite fighter, the boxer I respect and admire the most.

I s it so hard to conceive that people can have a favourite boxer and admire his rivals whilst acknowledging that whilst perhaps an elite rival may have a better head to head record,a better record against common rivals and maybe held in higher regard by the majority, that does not diminish the fact that it is still someone's personal favourite? I am a huge fan of Marquez,I admire Morales greatly but Barrera was my favourite fighter for many years. You can easily have a favourite boxer yet accept there may be better fighters.Barrera was a fabulous fighter in his prime and whilst he may not have aged as well as some boxing wise, his dismantling of Hamed is one of my all time sporting highlights. He never had that aloofness that many true greats display and was a true credit to the sport.I enjoy Froch more than anyone right now but it doesn't make him a Floyd or Pac.Barrera's "comeback" as discussed here may be remembered more fondly by genuine fans, but as usual the original question has become lost and partly forgotten as the thread has gone on.
