Marco Antonio Barrera return confirmed - MAB to fight Israel Vaqzuez!

    BS spoke to R. Schaefer who confirmed that MAB wants to get back in the ring and he mentioned another GBP fighter’s name as a possible opponent... and that's world SBW champion Israel Vazquez!

    I mean that would be a very interesting fight, but they want to do that at 130, and that would be a MAJOR disadvantage for Vazquez. I mean Larios jumped up from SMW to SFW to face PacMan but Larios is naturally a bigger man. Vazquez is not a big SBW, it’s his natural weight. So even the 126 limit would favor MAB, but the 130 - like DLH fighting Forbes at JMW – is too much.

    And it's becoming a habit in boxing increasing one's chances by choosing a higher weight category... Vargas-Mayorga, Hopkins-Wright, Jones-Tito, Michalczewski-Ottke, DLH-Forbes... and I don't like that. The categories are there to protect the fighters and even if Vazquez-MAB would be a GREAT fight - because Vazquez would MAKE MAB fight a great fight - 130 is a joke...



    So what do you think about MAB’s return and this possible matchup?

    MAB return to the ring to face p4p-er Vazquez at 130?

    I think Marco should stay out of the ring. A true ring warrior, but past his best IMO.

    Vasquez is a great fighter, but a natural SBW, whereas Marco would be making SFW really. Unless the fight was at 126, I wouldn't be particularly interested, as MAB's power would win the day pretty quickly IMO.

    vazquez is too small for 130 in my opinion.

    Mab UD12 or late TKO

    I hope thats a joke. Vazquez is too small and I doubt he would be willing to take this fight without some serious cash on the line. He already received a lot of punishment in his last 3 fights to be facing a bigger man outside his natural weight class.

    Well it's not a joke.

    Originally they wanted a rematch with Mzonke Fana since Fana is the IBF SFW champ. But Vazquez' name is more marketable...

    leaving the ring being a champ.

    a fight with valero seems to be imposible since theyre in the same camp.

    how about mab vs guzman?

    well i cant blame him picking the much easier fight to make his exit good.

    How about both Barrera and Jesus Chavez have a retirement fight together. They were supposed to face each other a while ago anyways.

    I hope Vazquez is getting a big pay day from this because he is giving up alot of size and will no doubt, imo be knocked out.

    How about MAB versus Valero. I think MAB has the style to beat Edwin. Technical but with some oomf behind punches.
