Marco Antonio Barrera to fight Nate Campbell!

Has Barrera fought in the 135 already? How come he's number 1 in WBO. Don King is so influential and he can get anything he wants. WBO is a joke.

The first time it was because he dropped his hands and posed in front of him like an idiot, he was manhandling him so easy he thought he could do anything he wanted. I don't know what happened in the second fight, I've never been able to find it on the web. I can't imagine how Robbie knocked him out, Nate was on a whole other level from Peden in the first fight until he dropped his hands.

MAB's prime was at Jr. FW in the late nineties. He's been around a lot longer than you think. He had already had two career's worth of wars by the first time he fought Pac.

 

Well IF it is gonna happen, might as well come up with some reasons why MAB has a shot (even if it's 3%).

1- He's MAB. Even a past it MAB is a somewhat capable fighter.

2-Campbell is inconsistent. The Peden fights, The fight against Juan Diaz, Casamayor fights etc etc etc. If he catches Campbell on a night where he's overconfident, MAB could sneak by.

3- Power. MAB has enough of it to make things interesting.

4- After facing off with guys like Pac and Rocky Juarez recently, Campbell (who isn't as powerful as those guys) might allow MAB to engage a bit more.

5- If he wants it, He CAN win. MAB is past it (probably shot honestly) but it's not as much physical as it mentally. Against Nas, he played keepaway at times but knew when to jump in and score on a very open fighter. Against Pac and Juarez (#2) he seemed very happy to play keepaway..but not engage. It's as though he's forgotten "it". He can do everything right but at the end of the day fights completely unwilling.

If MAB is in paycheck mode (possibly) then expect Campbell to walk through him. If all the ****ing planets align then MAB could make things interesting.

 

Yeah, Peden's just so much worse then ****in' Junior Jones, who knocked BARRERA out cold.

I swear to god General can't remember anything related to this sport longer then six months ago.

I think Junior Jones is a level above Peden though.


An Interesting fact about that fight though, Jones beat Barrera pretty badly the first time (just like PAC) and then Barrera was cautious as hell in the rematch (just like PAC).

 

I'm just doing my part to keep the rivalry alive.

 

Don King was in the WBC convention and was able to make Jose Sulaiman make strong remarks against pac about being a cheater. He just attended the WBO convention and was able to make MAB the #1 contender at 135. The guy is a slick manipulator who has been in the business for 4 decades. He knows the ins and outs of the trade so he can easily make a future HOF become a #1 contender and go for the title after a very boring fight against some fighter who has more than 20 loses.

Nevertheless, I like the idea of marco going for another title again against a very dangerous opponent who was a victim of some unprofessional slick fighting champion who turned out to be a dickhead. WAR BARRERA!!!!!
