Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Alexis Arguello

Dios mio.

Have to go with Arguello here. Long jab, dictating distance and pace, capitalizing on Barrera's tendency to trade with perfectly timed right hands.

 

i got alexis by a ko in 10 to big too strong

and very skilled .

 

isn't barrera's prime 122/126 while arguello's prime was at 130?

Arguello would demolish MAB at 130 lbs, I'm with the consensus here that Arguello has too many physical advantages.....its a more competitive fight at 126 lbs, where it would take the skinny framed Arguello a bit longer to stop MAB!


When you really think about it, Arguello is a stronger, harder punching, better version of Erik Morales......and those fights MAB went life and death with!

 

Mab defeatd em tactically. Life and death? At least he won. It's the same thing when he should have won against jmm. Like what the mab fans says.

 

And he would have beaten Marquez too.

 

At 130 lbs, yes I would favor Arguello, I'd probably pick him by late stoppage.
.....at 126 lbs, its a pick'em fight imo, I think I'd even lean toward a JMM win there.
JMM has better strenghth and stamina than MAB, and so that imo would be a factor.
Arguello was still great at 126 lbs, but he did'nt really develop and mature as a fighter until he was fighting at a much better weight for his size body until he stepped up to 130 lbs.

No question in my mind though.....Arguello at 130 lbs was too much of a fighter for the likes of MAB, JMM, Morales and Pac. Arguello was just to big for all of them.

 

MAB was no where near prime at 130. Even if he was....Arguello is a bit better fighter IMO. Far too strong for MAB. Only Mayweather should be in the ring with Arguello at 130 (for the guys who actually fought here, obviously Armstrong and others who skipped the weight but fought both over and under it would have some say)

 

alexis was a full bodied super feather, he was huge for that weight. too much of a size advantage to go with an ATG skill set. mab would'nt be able to box with him, which leaves him the option of turning it into a fight. he'd have some success in spots, but even on the inside where barrera thrives, arguello (an underrated body puncher) woud come off better.
