How would the Barrera fighting at 118 do against today's Donaire?

its hard to say because barrera was extremely young and unexperienced at that weight but he was relentless he could of broke nonito down maybe but honestly at that stage nonito could of got him with a sweet uppercut as he charge din like he used to it would be a good fight and im just going to be bias'd and say barrera lol

I don't know. Out of the Fab Four, I think only Morales could've matched Donaire at this weight.

Barrera on points. Donaire is a gifted fighter, but becoming overratted at this point imo. He looks spectacular at times, and ordinary even vulnerable, at others.

Too early to tell.. . Even though Nonito has 2 great wins over elite opposition (Montiel,Darchiniyan) .. Even before leaving 122 Barreras resume was still better than Nonitos is right now..... Whos to say Nonito wont lose to a Junior Jones type guy in the next year or so? Barrera was just as highly regarded (if not more so) than Nonito before the Jones fight....

As for those who think Barrera was just a brawler,,, Thats not really true,, he had those excellent boxing skills already(i followed him at the forum since his days at 115) just chose to slug more, but i had watched MAB showcase those boxing skills early on.

Barrera just smartened up more(after Jones I) and knew that he could win easier boxing against certain opponents, without taking big risks (especially Naz) (and also he was moving up)... Also knew his career would last longer.

Donaire is lucky he doesn't have to face the 3 legends; Marquez, Morales or Barrera. But i think Gamboa is in the same league to those trio if not better. That to me is the ultimate test for donaire. Montiel and Darchinyan are good but not greats. Donayri can lay Montiel and Darch out. But I seriously doubt he could stop Barrera, Marquez or Morales. He will get tested down to the wire and will need to show some heart, chin and stamina.Every fight Donaire shows me something special. His counter punch is lovely he did show in Concepcion fight that he can fight to the end specially that sweet counter punches off the back foot is beautiful to watch. Can't wait to see Donaire at 122 and 126 where i believe he will even be better? coz he won't be weight drained.
