Ive been watching Margo since he was a teen fighting in and around various So Cal venues, as well as his fight against Martinez and Margo live on the undercard of Barrera/Morales I.... Hes always had the same style (although faster and more fluid when he was younger) and damaging shots, he hit pretty hard even as a prospect... I highly doubt he was packing as a teen or while coming up and somewhere down the line something would have came up... I think he might stop Cotto again, if so what will you say then?
I think hed be effective and beat most Mws... He was a huge welter and even a good size JM. He came in with pac weighing over 160.. Id bet Margo walking around weight is around 175 to 180 and still looks in shape.
So punching a guy's ear off automatically makes one guilty of loading your gloves? atsch I do hope you know that the human ear is mostly made of cartilege protected by thin skin. Whether you get punched by a loaded glove or not, it won't take much to bust that thin skin. Did you see Mikey Garcia and that Milliard dude or whatever his name is? Milliard's ear was ready to come off. It was flapping around and looked liked it had gotten detached although the skin hadn't broken yet. Anyone else see that? How do you know he was punching three times harder? So now you are able to guage how hard a guy punches by watching him on t.v.? Golden Johnson was a blown up welter when he faced Margarito. Johnson was brought in to give Margarito a workout and nothing more. Margarito had just lost to Williams and was being brought back by his promoter to look good. Arum's matchmaker knew who they were choosing, and it wasn't going to be someone who would obliterate one of their cash cows. Anyhow, according to some ESB "experts", plaster needs time to harden. So according to that logic, Margarito must have used the fast drying mix since he knocked out Johnson in one round. atsch Cintron was also quoted as saying that Margarito was not that big of a puncher, and that he just got caught. Look, whether Margarito knew or not, he disgraced himself and I would like to think that he lost a lot of fans. You may have a strong opinion on whether he was loading or not, but to say that "you know" for sure or you are 100% positive that he was loading makes one sound ignorant. If you have followed Margarito's career you could see that there are other factors that one can look at to reach a reasonable conclusion on whether he was loading or not such as: 1. Although not known as a devastating puncher, he did have KO power. See Alfred Ankamah (early in his career), and Andrew "Six Heads" Lewis (later in his career). Both were caught with good punches. 2. Most of his stoppages were the result of relentless pressure and accumulation of punches. See Antonio Diaz, Cotto, Cintron, and others. 3. Margarito and his corner sure fooled a lot of veteran trainers and commissions if he was loading throughout his career. I'm sure that even in the early stages of a boxer's career, someone from the opposing camp is watching the opponent wrap his hands. Look at his opponents in the later stages of his career. He was fighting guys with veteran trainers who weren't noobs and should have know WTF they were doing. 4. If the CA commission had found plaster of paris on his wraps, I would think that this would have gone to a criminal court. The only thing they found was old pads with traces of some ingredients for plaster of paris, which others have also claimed that these same ingredients are found in common hand lotions.
147 is clearly his best weight. He got his ass whipped by Daniel Santos at 154. At 160, I don't see him doing too much. I think Lemeiux would **** him up if they met at MW.
Santos had a different style and besides that fight never ended, we all know Margarito comes on strong at the end.. Cotto was winning the fight to up until the late rounds and look what happened there. As for Lemieux **** no He has the power to definitely ko some guys but if Rubio made it thru so is Margarito. And he would **** his world up:dead once Lemieux shot his load.
Rubio. Margarito aint **** at 160 he wasnt **** at 154 either getting stopped by Daniel Santos. Margaritos whole succees was based on being bigger man vs they guys he fought at 147 where he could wear them down with his relentless pressure. Margarito would get manhandled by pretty much every decent middleweights there is today.
If Margo can take Rubio's power, he wins. But let us not forget he was wobbled a few times and busted up pretty badly against a guy who's realistically a Jr WW.
I can agree with this. Ricky Hatton also suffered from these problems. I foresee Clottey having the same issues now that he's moving up.
Get your facts straight you dumbass... OR since you can help it why dont actually watch some fights instead. He never got kod by Santos the ref stopped it and went to the scorecards after 10 rounds.. And Santos was only ahead by 1 and 2 points on 2 cards and Margarito ahead on the other card.. He wouldnt get manhandled by anyone, maybe outboxed or beat up in a rematch vs Martinez but he isnt get manhandled, at least not by todays current Mws.
