Freeman throws a 1-2 to the testicles. Three times in a row! atsch Finally Mora steps in and tells him "No more!" in no uncertain terms. No point is taken away. Rogers backs Freeman up with a long right hand to the head. More posing and shuffling along out of range by both. 1-1-2 by Rogers. His trainer yells at him not to overreach with the right cross. Posing. Long jab to the body by Rogers, and Freeman tries to hook him on the hairline as he's ducking in. Slicing combo by Freeman. High jab to the face by Rogers, knocking Freeman's head back. Rogers comes forward with a chopping high left hook, caught on the back of Freeman's wrists but ensnaring the two in close proximity for a moment during which Rogers works the body. HARD jab to the body from Rogers on the outside. Rogers ducks down low and peers up at Freeman, popping a jab up in his face. Rogers is looking very relaxed and is stalking forward intently now, maybe looking to finish. Glancing 1-2 by Rogers at the bell as Freeman rolls away from it.

Round 8

Long right hand by Rogers, diving in and forcing Freeman to tie him up. Freeman pops a 1-2 at mid-range, and Rogers blocks. Jabs from Rogers coming forward. Freeman tries his own jab but just gets a bit of braid as Rogers moves his head. Rogers marches right up on Freeman and hooks away to the body, with his corner screaming for more of that. More pressure from Rogers, but he starts hooking at the head and missing as Freeman rolls over to one side. Back to a slow pace, circling out wide and exchanging long jabs. Swiping hook up top by Rogers, easily avoided by Freeman as he navigates along the ropes. Rogers bounces side to side while coming forward. No punches in the last twenty seconds or so.

Round 9

Freeman jabs into the guard of Rogers and backs up, shimmying side to side real quick. Rogers stretches out his own jab and lands about half on the forehead of Freeman, also shimmying side to side in between lunges. NICE double jab from Rogers, delivered halfway across the ring and both bouncing off Freeman's face with some reverb. Freeman circles left and hoists his arms up to block some jabs, and now shrinks away with his head tucked behind his shoulder. Jab to the temple by Rogers. Jab between the eyes by Rogers. Freeman tries backing straight up, circling right, coming forward and chopping with a right hand - nothing can halt the slow and steady jabbing/stalking attack of Rogers.

90-81 Rogers

 

Round 10

Rogers jabs a few times, then pivots on his left toes while swinging his right leg all the way around behind him like a big compass as Freeman circles him. Rogers dives forward with a right hand and their heads clash. Freeman pulls away pawing at his head with his glove. Mora isn't sympathetic enough to give him time off, so they resume. Rogers is opening up a bit, throwing upper-hooks while coming forward and trying to stay squared up with Freeman as he zigs and zags. Jab up top by Rogers, retracting to cover up as Freeman blasts at him with lefts and rights. Hard jabs by Rogers, backing Freeman up. Now a hook to the face. Freeman is hurt. Right hand by Rogers driving forward and Freeman holds. UPPERCUT!! Snapped his head back. Another uppercut, TKO!


Okay stoppage. Freeman was standing up and defending himself, but starting to get trounced. Sure, Mora could have allowed him to try and make it the extra minute and lose a lopsided (probably shutout) decision - but if he ate too many more of those neck-cranking uppercuts it would have been hazardous to his health.

 

Watching the slow motion replays of those last few uppers? ...and he was hurt even before those.

 

WTF?

I'd assumed that Rogers would be the #1 light middleweight of the Virgin Islands.

Apparently not. There is one other guy in the division from his water-locked homeland. John Jackson is 11-0 with ten knockouts, whereas Rogers just improved to 11-0 with six stoppages.

Those two have to meet. :yep Maybe they can unify their WBC trinkets. Jackson is about to contend for the vacant youth title. Rogers just won the FECARBOX title.
