Robinson was winning that fight, it's well known how he lost.
    Maxim was better than Rubio.

I like these Dubal Speek threads because they force us to seriously consider how much of an advantage weight is over class. Frankly I'd say a great small fighter will demolish a big lunk every time, but the certainty of his victory diminishes the closer they come in terms of quality.

This is obvious but the question is really where is the point where a few pounds make up for a little less quality?

One of my favourite fighters ever was Igor Vovchanchyn, and he amply demonstrated that great quality could make up for almost any amount of weight by absolutely destroying 3 x 300lb monsters ON THE SAME NIGHT.

The videos of his fights vs Fred Floyd et al should be on youtube should anybody be curious.

On the flipside of the coin (and this just came to me now, so I am sort of shafting my previous post) we have the humungous Bob Sapp that beat the snot out of Ernesto Hoost, who should have won easily on the "quality vs quantity" argument.

Because a heavier man was forcing him to run for his life in the heat?

I may not be Boxed Ears, Grover, Babadook, or Hans.

I have been called all four and they may or may not be right. Does it matter?

Rubio was very mediocre and not much bigger if any than Robinson

Robinson almost won the 175 title against Maxim but ran out of gas.

Robinson humiliates Rubio in less than 5 rounds.

Rubio has only been knocked out by men much heavier than Robinson, your prediction has no historical basis.

The skill difference is just too great.

    Size isn't everything.

Golovkin isn't that much heavier than Robinson.

    Golovkin comes in over 170.

Robinson weighed 157 for a 175 limit fight in his prime.

Unless you want to match a washed up Robinson with Rubio.

How many rounds? Also, are they fighting in an air conditioned arena or in suffocating 110 degree heat? And, would Rubio have put on 20 lbs in one day, or does he get to weigh in the day before?
