Marco HUCK v. Steve CUNNINGHAM - ANALYSIS Thread

yep i saw that fight.
huck was simply to big and stong for tokarev and IMO dominated the fight with cleaner shots /higher output and ring generalship.


huck did what he wanted to do and tokarev only got into it in spurts.

judging was wrong IMO from memory i had huck winning comfertably.

stylewise cunningham could pose problems for huck, he has the tools to make huck pay for defensive mistakes, but i do not beleive he has the mindset and will fight passivly and tentativley .

 

Yep! Huck should have won his encounter by a wide point decision instead of getting a split decision.The blind judge who didnt score the fight in favour of Huck must have watched a different fight.
And some people here dare to claim that you cant win a point decision in Huck's backyard!

I am quite sure that you have seen more fights of Cunningham than me,sean.Therefore I trust in your words when saying that the American's style could pose problems for Huck.Styles make fights!
Nevertheless Cunningham didnt impress me much against the relatively harmless Pole Wlodarcyk.Cunningham more or less fought on Karanevich's level.
The Huck who beat Tokarev would beat the version of Cunningham who defeated Wlodaryck black and blue IMO.
What's more a cat in gloves catches no mice! You wont win a fight against the young and very powerful Huck by running and throwing the occasional jab. Huck's stamina is very decent,and so is his punch.Huck wont run out of gas.Very tough fight for Cunningham.

 

Again, you make the mistake of drawing conclusions based off of one performance.

A focused Cunningham who throws a lot of punches, and it has been Cunningham's style to throw a lot in the past despite his movement (this is boxing, after all) will give Huck plenty of problems.

However, you are right, Cunningham has to get to back to his old mindset and not fight like he did against Wlodarczyk if he has a chance of leaving Germany with his title. Surely Sauerland is expecting him to come over and hand it over to Huck.

 

If you have a great jab and understand how to use it? Yes, you can beat a lot of fighters. Its the cornerstone of technical proficiency.

Cunningham's jab isnt that impressive and he doesnt use the angles or set up his shots enough off of it. He falls in and ties up.

I'm American and I got Huck. WTF? Judge the fight on you're knowledge of boxing, that doesnt reqire bull**** generalization's about American's.

 

Only true of the Wlodarczyk fight. Cunningham at his best does exactly what you say he doesn't, use the angles beautifully AND fire shots from all positions and with volume. This is what he must get back to. If he does, he will be tough for any Cruiser to beat.

I freely admit that my conclusions are based on Cunningham's fights with Wlodarcyk.
However,I wasnt much impressed by what I saw,emanuel.
Of course the Pole isnt a bum,and styles make fights.Nevertheless I cant really see Cunningham win his upcomming fight with Huck on Huck's home turf.All the odds are against Cunningham IMO.
You have to be ready to go to war in order to score a victory over the young and very powerful Huck.I somehow doubt that Cunningham is ready to exactly do that.A cat in gloves catches no mice!
I may be wrong,but I think that Huck's last victim Tokarev would beat both Cunningham and Wlodarczyk IMO.I for my part had bet my money on Tokarev in his encounter with Huck.I had thought that Tokarev would be too strong and experienced for Huck.However,Huck proved me wrong.He showed a great performance against a genuine top fighter.
Now I will bet my money on Huck.Haha! I may be wrong again.Thats why our beloved sport is so interesting,dont you agree with me!

The smart money has to be on Huck by decision

Difficult to see a KO. Huck is a solid puncher, but he's not exactly David Haye. Cunningham has a solid chin

Any fight that is close/marginally in Cunningham's favour is going to Huck by decision
