Johnson is getting into a verbal altercation with a female screaming at him from ringside as his gloves are being removed, and needs to be restrained from lunging over the top rope at her. Weird. Wonder what that was all about...even the ring emcee JT Conway looks perturbed.

Apparently per the commentators it was the father of Sheldon Vallotton (featherweight who fought in the card opener) who instigated all that chatter between Harris and the chick in the front row. Bizarre.

 

Devin McGovern vs. Demonte Cherry, 4 rounds @ heavyweight

 

McGovern made his pro debut in June of 2018, a TKO3 victory. This is his sophomore outing. Six and a half years out, and they've on paper picked a real cherry in Demonte Cherry with his 1-13 record, nine straight KO1 losses.

That said, McGovern weighs 206¼ lbs and Cherry has more than 16 kilos on him at 242½ lbs - with that size advantage already coming into play in the first minute.

 

Cherry bumrushed McGovern early and had him rocked by the ropes but was then dropped twice.

KO1 for McGovern. (tenth of those in a row now suffered by Cherry)

Cherry weirdly started doing push-ups after the first KD in a show of bravado, just to get stopped like 15 seconds later.

5'8" southpaw vs. 5'8" southpaw, hands-up jab battle to start.

 

Forestal strewing in more and more straight lefts, to body and head, from outside - and now a 1-2 as he steps in. Rodríguez finishing flurries with a right hook on the body before circling to his right.

Al Haynesworth opines that Rodríguez is winning and landing the harder shots, and Abrams & Rodgers both politely accede that they can see what he means...because yes, let's value the input of the retired NFL player who never fought.

Rodríguez was hurt by a chopping left and then bludgeoned down as he wobbled, ref insanely doesn't rule it a knockdown. A minute left in the round for Forestal to grind for the finish. Rodríguez holding. Headbutt.

Oh wtf that is crazy, actually ... Forestal, just like McGovern in the previous bout, also last fought in June of 2018 and is coming in tonight off a 6½ year layoff. Did they find two such guys to share a card on purpose? If not, what are the odds?
