I love watching this kid. If only he jabbed his way in, he could be unstoppable. Thanks for the highlights, made my morning break a whole lot better.
hehe Ive been watching him since his first pro fight and I knew he was going to be a champion. I hope he wins against bradley.
Funny thing is, Chino showed a nice jab vs. Kotelnik, he's just not too confident with it throwing regularity. Now while I'm no Manny Steward ("jab without getting hit"), I do think it's a very important weapon and Miguel Diaz should pay a bit more attention to the shot. Different fighter, different styles, but I loved how Caballero threw the jab all night on Saturday, it gave him much better control. A busy KO artist with a crisp jab - now that's really something!
They got to work on the jab in the gym cause that would be a very useful tool against bradley who is smaller than Chino.
Bradley's gonna have to go to hell and back to beat this guy. Win or lose, he'll be taken to where he's never been. He's gonna have to dig deeper than in the Holt fight.
He's not a slick boxer and gets by with KO power alone. Ortiz really showed him up skills wise. Fighters like Kevin Mitchell beat this Guy IMO. Just take a look at his performance against Prescott and you'll see what I mean.
I would love it if he did that more and shortened up on his punches slightly, and became just a touch more selective with them. Then I think he could be truly dangerous. Right now he's a tough test for anyone at junior welter, but with a few refinements and improvements he might become a true contender for top man at 140. (Right now I'm not quite ready to put him in there, and consider him to be kind of on the outside looking in at 140's inner circle. His next fight could change that entirely).
I been following chino maidana since his 3rd professional fight and i had never seen a boring fight he is a warrior!!!
