    Another aspect of maidana that should be noted is his amazing recuperative abilities. The Khan body punch and Ortiz's 3 knockdowns would have destroyed most fighters.

    dont forget the left hook and the right hand which stunned him against morales, he looked like he was out and started running backwards and turning around but 10 seconds later it was like nothing had ever happened!

    definatly worth mentioning!

    he's not like some fighters that have to gritt there teeth and dig deep to stay in fights, it just comes naturally, don't know wether its the years working on a farm since he was a child or growing up in a rough area of argentina where he had to fight all the time but he's definatly made for fighting.

    Very exciting to watch and usually applies what I feel I don't stress enough: effective aggression. He's like Mayorga in the sense that he's exciting and though he throws wild punches, they'll land and catch quicker fighters such as Khan.

    I said it before the Morales fight and I'll say it again: Maidana's power is very, very overrated. Don't get me wrong, I like Marcos, the guy is an absolute badass. The interview after the Khan fight(if you can call it that) was absolute quality, which shows he has more than the right attitude. His powers of recuperation are excellent, and his sheer relentlessness is often the main factor of his victories.

    Maidana is like the us military proving ground in weapon deployment...if you think you're a great fighter, if you have some kink to work in your game and wanna see how far you've come, if you think you're a bad ass, then get in the ring with Maidana, win or loose, he'll give you plenty of opportunity to show the world how tough you really are...

    Who do you consider his "three quality opponents"?

    Obviously you've mentioned Khan and Morales...but who's the third in your opinion, with whom he's had a FOTY candidate?

    There is a third quality opponent against whom he had a very good fight, but it probably isn't the one you're thinking of..

    Maidana is one of my faves , he's a proper fighter who will fight anyone no matter what , u get no bull**** with maidana.

    maidana vs ortiz was voted one of the best fights of the year. it didn't get top vot but it was in the top 5. there was 5 kd's and loads of clean shots.
