You said "criminally underrated boxing ability", so my point still sounds. "Slightly underrated boxing ability" - I could have went along with that, again, even though I think his skills are slightly overrated.

And the reason I think his skills are being slightly overrated stem from the fact he was competitive with Floyd in their first outing and continued making Floyd look even more uncomfortable than we are accustomed to during the less competitive rematch. This, I think, has far more to do with Floyd slipping with age than Maidana being anything special.

And who cares if Maidana has "some traits" that go completely overlooked? How in the world does that translate into him having "criminally underrated boxing ability"? The truth is a lot of boxers have overlooked skill sets. Look at George Foreman - there's a thread floating around about him saying he wouldn't be top 20 in today's heavyweight division!

With Maidana's skills, abilities, and the overall package of him as a fighter - he's more or less rated exactly where he should be, skill-wise and as a fighter.

If you would have said "slightly underrated", I may have been willing to go along, even though I myself find him slightly overrated since his first fight with Floyd.

The thing is, I think Maidana tends to be overrated by some, underrated by others, and I think in the end it all balances out nicely and that Maidana is more or less viewed exactly as he should be for what he is.

Criminally underrated, though? No. Not at all.
