The fight with McCloskey IMO makes more sense.

Maidana isn't Floyd, he is not a very rich man and if the money is crap which I've heard it is then i don't consider it a duck.

I dont think money was an issue, cause Golden Boy has a reputation for overpaying all their fighters and paying them good $$$$ to make fights happen.

Maidana knows Soto is a brutal bodypunsher like this vid shows:

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwBQbA0G9ss[/ame]

and if Khan was able to drop Maidana with a mediocre body shot, Imagine what Soto's powerfull body shots would do.

Not even Juan M Marquez, Morales, MAB, Pac, Guerrero, want anything to do with Soto.
They're all scared to fight Soto.

Soto is gonna have a hard time getting fights at 140lbs.

This isn't a duck. McCloskey isn't as good as Soto but he is far more awkward and considering he'll be making more money against McCloskey, it makes sense.

The big reason though, is because the only way Maidana will get a Khan fight is if he beats McCloskey and then the British public will force it. It's the same for McCloskey too, the only way he'll get a rematch is if he beats Maidana. Beating Soto may be better for Maidana in America but it isn't going to land him a huge fight. Beating McCloskey will.

    :good

The only reason for Maidana, Prescott and McCloskey to mix it up is because they're all in the Khan rematch sweepstakes. (although Prescott should now be out, finally).

Soon it will just be Maidana, and it will just be a question of whether Khan feels obliged to give in to the public pressure of rematching the guy who beat the other guy a rematch was said to be deserved for (who in turn beat the guy who beat Khan). If there's a Mayweather date on the line, it's highly doubtful Khan will give a **** about that public pressure, but it's worth the gamble for all three of his past opponents to keep pushing ahead for it.

Maidana was gonna get more money fighting Soto on HBO main event, than fight McClosky for less money.

    Maidans fears Soto, thats all.
