Marcos Maidana is one of the most overrated punchers in boxing today?

I've been thinking about this recently and it's become pretty clear, Maidana's supposed punching power is a complete myth, this man is NOT a big puncher.

His career is eerily similar to that of Deontay Wilder in that his supposed power has come from building up a high KO percentage whilst facing stiffs in the earlier part of his career (In Wilder's case his ENTIRE career). It's easy to look good and get the KO when you're facing schoolteachers, sanitation workers and rickshaw drivers.

This guy couldn't even KO Amir Khan or Victor Ortiz, two men who have some of the most fragile Glass Jaws in recent times. Let's not even talk about Broner who also has a Glass Jaw yet still managed to not be KO'd by this 'huge' puncher.

What are your thoughts ESB, Maidana's power overrated or not?

Maidana is a A, B+ level fighter in todays very weak era. In the 80s or 90s he'd be nothing more than an Oba Carr type fighter, perhaps less.

no more overrated than Thurmans power is....

and Thurman is a "true" welterweight.

so no it's not overrated. If he could setup his punches better and be more dynamic his power would be of more use. He hits like a mule...that's for sure.
