Three days ago our friends at ***********.com reported that promoter Eddie Hearn, who oversees unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook, would love to match the Sheffield-born fighter with junior welterweight champion Marcos Maidana someday. Brook is coming off of a dominant points win over former title challenger Matthew Hatton last weekend while Maidana suffered the third loss of his career of February 25th when he was soundly outpointed by a rejuvenated Devon Alexander in the southpaws hometown of St. Louis over ten rounds. The fight with Alexander saw Maidana rise from 140 to 147 pounds and he seemed out of sorts and a bit sluggish, almost as if the added weight was slowing him down. Catching up with the Argentinean bruiser on Sunday morning, he affirmed that he likely will be going back down to the junior welterweight division but cant rule out business at 147 down the line. I still think I'm going back to 140 to defend my WBA title, Maidana stated through his advisor Sebastian Contursi. However, we cannot rule out a new movement to 147, probably by the end of this year or early next year. And while Maidana admits that he isnt too familiar with Brook or his style, he expressed interest in traveling to his hometown if such a fight were to occur. To be honest, I don't know him at all, Maidana said of Brook. I don't think any of his fights have been televised in Argentina. I am not scared to go to no one's backyard. In fact most of the time I do, as you know. But the whole thing is something my promoter Golden Boy Promotions would handle. But last time we got a proposal to go to Britain it was nothing but smoke as they made me a poor offer to face Paul McCloskey. Scene it...
To be fair he's got a point. I'd be very disappointed in Maidana if he was to take on Kelly Brook in his next fight, she's not really done enough to earn the fight.
maidana played the game right, he makes close to a million dollar paydays for his skill level thats good.
I think he's done enough to earn a shot at a guy that lost his last fight at 147 convincingly and struggled past an ancient Morales in all honesty.
Sorry mate, I think you've misunderstood me. I was being sarcastic about the title if you look at my post again. Kell Brook without doubt should be looking at fighting the likes of Maidana in his next fight :yep
Read it so I did this morning .Good fight so it is would pay for this defintley .Wonder if it would make hbo .
