Who's with me? Looked effective everytime he threw the jab. He didn't use the jab enough. Mayweather obviously has problems v fighters with a decent jab. Anyone with a jab gives Mayweather problems.:deal
A stiff jab freezes Mayweather, meaning either he gets caught with it, or he can't counter over it. This was proven by DLH and Cotto when they threw their jabs. Lazy jabs get countered with his pullback counter right. When Maidana was throwing his jab stiff, Mayweather couldn't do anything about it, either he would get caught or he couldn't counter over it. In the later rounds though, Maidana started to throw lazy jabs and Mayweather would easily counter over them. Would double jabs have helped? Maybe, but they have to be thrown with meaning and not lazily.
I don't think Maidana jab is fast enough to do what Cotto's or Delahoya's did, and Floyd would time it eventually and have a counter. Look Maidana's best game is aggression and activity. He will not be able to change what he did in the first fight int he second. Once he fights Floyd, the minute he slows down, then count the rounds after that and that is how many rounds Floyd will win maybe minus one or two. So if Maidana slows in round 3, 4-12 he will win, then take away one round for a round Maidana gets a small second wind.. It was predicatable.
Double jab and overhand right - his overhand rights did not even land. Overhand right is HIS shot. I would have liked to see more left hooks as well.
I don't disagree with the OP. But I think the most effective punch of the whole fight was Mayweather's jab to the body. That's not to say that I think ( Floyd ) won, though. I believe it was a close fight. Haven't seen Floyd tested like that in a while. A rematch would be nice. I knew when MM walked in he wasn't nervous and to me, that's half the battle with Floyd.
