    this has been par for the course with gbp look back throughout their short history. they have consistently made what looked like safe fights for their up and comers, only to end up finding sharks instead of guppies.

    Forgive me for quoting myself here but I was surprised the original 18 people who correctly picked Maidana by TKO/KO suddenly becomes 21 people after I posted it?? LOL ...:lol: Well maybe you can point out who these additional 3 peeps... :D They can be easily identified...

    i was happy to see maidana prevail. i said he was no pushover, and that his power+toughness was going to give ortiz a tough fight. good stuff from odo in this thread.

    I just watched Maidana-Ortiz again and DAMN what a fight! It really saved the month of June after a series of disappointing cancellations and postponements.

    Maidana-Ortiz promised a fight but produced a fight of the year candidate, a round of the year candidate and a possible uspet of the year candidate as writers were totally sold on the undested American. Both fighters really deserve nothing else but credit. Anyone who questions Ortiz heart should stop watching boxing, because they landed bombs on each other for your entertainment, and they both got up from the floor. In the end, Maidana was just the toughter man, but badly beaten up Ortiz should still get respect in defeat. If he was fighting another C level bum, we would have one fight of the year candidate less, so thanks for the great brawl!

    What a fight!
